04 i35 loud engine

I recently purchased a 04 maxima with 140k miles in it and due to check engine light and issues the dealer is trying to get me to swap it out for the 04 i35. I thought this would be a similar car but the engine is a considerable amount louder than the maxima. Is this normal?

The engine shouldn't be louder, it's the same engine as the Maxima. If anything, the engine in the Infiniti should be quieter as it is a luxury car.

If the air conditioner compressor is running, turn it off to see if that is making noise. See if the radiator fans are running. Bad fan motors are pretty noisy. Turn off the engine and wiggle the fan blades front to back, not rotate. There should be absolutely no play or wiggle in them.
