Which Exhaust Tips?

Well as usual, I want something for my car (no surprise there ). My friend just put an exhaust on his truck and we have been looking into tips for the pipes. That got me thinking about the chrome/polished tips I usually see on I35s, so that's something I'd like to get now. Does anyone know the inlet size and a good outlet size (looks like the stock one is just one consistent size)? Preferably, I'd like to keep it stock looking. Or I assume I35 tips would be fine like if I found them on a part-out car (providing the Infiniti tips are screw-on rather than a weld)? Thanks for any help with this guys!

Mike, I looked into this not to long ago. Except, I was looking for something that would take the two pipes into one big chrome oval. The problem is there is no cutout in the rear bumper for exhaust outlets. So, it's hard to do a tip. I'm subscribed though. Hopefully, someone knows something I don't....:-)

Different than what you were looking for, I just want to have two separate tips for each of the pipes coming off the exhaust. If you look on an I35, the tips follow the angle of the pipes from the muffler, so you would see them, but they wouldn't risk burning a hole in the bumper. I measured today that they are 2-inch and with there being some cheap ones on eBay, maybe ill order a pair and give them a try. I'm thinking clear front corners will be ordered soon too to finish off the exterior of my car. As for the weather, to put it simply: it sucks. Lots of snow that's gonna continue throughout tonight, but at least I've got some HD movies to watch while I'm stuck inside.

Haha. I bet! We got about 5-6 inches of wet snow last night in Chicago. The worst of it during rush hour.

I've never noticed the chrome tips on the I35? I just bought a new muffler in November. So, it would be nice to get some chrome finishers.

What did you find on eBay? Something like these?

That's kinda what it looks like coming out of the muffler. My idea would be to just have straight exhaust tips that would more or less follow the curve of the muffler's outlet. Or at least just direct the exhaust far down enough as to not ruin the bumper. Here's a picture I found on eBay of an I35 with the tips I usually see:

I read on a different post that the whole exhaust is basically the same minus the tips. I looked at some blown out part diagrams and they don't list the tips. If you can find a Infiniti part number. I would probably pick them up too.

I was thinking that this would work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290842781546...84.m1423.l2649
Maybe I'll just have to look at how my exhaust is now and figure out how long of a tip I'd need, probably the 6" the ones in that eBay listing are would work perfectly.

I bought the ones that I posted above so they should be coming this week and hopefully they'll get put on by the end of the week. I'll post when I have them on (and then in my Member's Rides thread when I finally decide to order my clear corners which should be soon enough)

What have guys done with aftermarket exhaust such as Megan or Cattman? I've got the 3" cattman ordered, just curious how it is going to look and line up with my bumper, since we dont have exhaust cutouts like the Maxima does

My exhaust is all stock, as-is the rest of my drivetrain. The only thing I would change would be the muffler should my current one rust out, and I'd replace it with a Borla. But as for now, I've only modified my car cosmetically since my priority is for the car to last me through college without any serious incidents.

I paid $450 for the muffler to be replaced. Parts and labor. I know it is alittle high...But, I'm not crawling under the car when the temp is 10 degrees.

The Infiniti is cheap to repair. Compared to my Benz!

It's 800 for the 3" cattman, that's why I am going that route. It's cheapER than other cars, I guess it depends on your definition of cheap i guess lol. A $400+ maf sensor, $275 throttle body, and $140 to the dealer to relearn the idle air woke me up to how picky these bad boys can be

Well they came in the mail today (which was pretty fast to come from WA to NJ) and my friends ended up getting them on for me. I think it's a much nicer look than just old exhaust pipes, even though you wouldn't really see them. They are still under the bumper edge, but you can see them now. I think it's a nice touch, especially for the price I paid

Here's a pic, if not really good. I'll have to get a better one in daylight tomorrow

Here's a better pic. Definitely a good <$20 buy, at least IMO. Looks like on pipe is a little lower than the other (or it could just be how the tip is put on) so I'll have to play with that when the weather would finally get warmer.

Got the exhaust tips on today. They look great! Really like the rolled black part inside the tips...gives it a nice clean finish! Can't beat the bang for the buck!

Here's the pics of the tips. Sorry, it's winter in Chicago, so the car is filthy. Suppose to snow again tomorrow. I like them, personally....Good Find Mike! I need to spray the muffler black with High Temp Black when it warms up.

Those tips are walmart tips, i had them on for a year and they became really rusty. Walmart now sells these stainless steel ones for the same price $9 each and looks better with a curve at the end.
