Is my tranny finally failing?

Wuts up guys I bought an I30 at 195k original motor/tranny.. only 2nd owner who's owned it since around 100k. He(2nd owner) babied the car the whole time, nvr drove above 75mph+ and so have I. I know him personally..very car **** and maxima/I30 savy guy. Only used nissan tranny oil during regular 30k swaps.

The car now has 225k..i'd say it's been about around the 185K marker tranny fluids been changed. Lately the tranny seems to be "failing"..occasionally at a red light when I let off the brake in Drive the car wont inch up/move..if I gas it nothing happens..if I wait long enough while gassing..it will eventually catch and ill get a jerky/ jolt action, sometimes switching from park then back to drive helps but not always.. even if done repeatedly. If i'm doing 20-30 mph and slow down real quick to 5-10 I wont be able to gas it again because it feels like the cars in neutral..i basically have to baby the gas in these situations. Rolls back on hills occasionally in drive even when my foot is off the brake.

For some reason turning even slightly quick caused the problem too.Aside from it occasionally stalling couple times while driving while switching from 1st to 2nd gear or just at a standstill thats pretty much it. Times are rough and maintaining the car is hard I've yet to check the tranny mounts(will do so soon) but not sure if the symptoms Ive named suggest it matters hopefully you guys can tell me. Also i was told a tranny fluid swap might "solve/prolong" the problem. Im considering selling the car.. i'd really hateeee to bcuz the motor is still strong invested over 3k in the car..but Idk if another 1000 for another tranny+labor is worth it. thanks a lot for reading guys hope I can get some good news but I wont be surprised if its common the tranny fail at this mileage.

You're likely correct. Have you checked fluid level and condition yet?

And YES, spending only a grand on a new trans IS worth it in this car...you said yousrself it's a strong motor.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.Fluid level checked out normal I did that when the problem first occured tho..could have drastically changed since 1.5 weeks ago.

Thanks man I needed a lil motivation like that..its too bad i'll have to opt for the rebuild and not swappin a lower mileage one like one with 140k or somthin. ill be saving around $300 rebuilding it.

Check around, if the price between a rebuild and a low mileage used trans isn't that much, it might work out to get a used one with low mileage.

Whatever you do, don't go to AAMCO...find an independent place that you can talk to the people and get a feel for how they are. New or rebuilt transmissions are pricey...and a place that charges little usually takes shortcuts.

If you're paying to do it...fork over the extra and get it done right.
