bose sub finally started to cut out...
so it finally happened. my bose sub is cutting out more and more often now. but i did notice than everytime i had something big in the trunk that seemed to push against the sub or the wiring that it worked just for fine for hours and hours. like i just went back to school and drove to myrtle beach from long island and has tons of stuff in my trunk and the sub worked all the way down but as soon as i unloaded my car it stopped working and went back to only working for a little bit when i hit the bottom of it. yes i know theres tons of threads on this and iv read them all im just venting lol

You open up the subwoofer box and fold up a piece of cardboard so that when you put the cover back on, the cover is pressing the cardboard onto the relay that is in there.
The relay needs to be re-soldered (maybe replaced) but the pressure keeps it in contact with the printed circuit board. This "trick" will work for a while, but eventually the problem comes back.
This thread talks about fixing the problem properly by soldering. It has photos but a word of caution - each year of the sub looks different. So yours may not match the photos. The relay problem is the same, just located differently.

Search the 5th gen Maxima forum for cardboard to read more about this.

Do you have an I35? If so, how/where did you hook up to the BOSE sub, and what is the OHM rating of the speakers you're running? I am fairly skilled when it comes to physically wiring things up, but I'm a dummy when it comes to figuring out the how, why, and where to make things work.

Cardboard trick works great! Can't screw black cylinder back in
So I did the cardboard trick and the bass is working great. However, when i try to screw the black subamp holder it pushes up on the sub and does not allow it to hang and viabrate.
Currently the black thing is hanging by the green and red wires instead of being screwed in... Which is bad. How do i put it back in properly? How'd the factory do it in the first place?
