How great are these cars?

I must say fantastic. I've been driving ours more due to my great grandmother having some medical issues. I have a 54 mile round trip drive to work and I must say, this think handles and rides wonderfully. With the Nexen N5000 tires, it's so smooth and quiet. It's a welcome change from the Accord, granted the Accord gets better gas mileage. But I'm probably averaging around 20mpg with 95% of the drive being interstate. The car could probably use a good tune up (new plugs, seafoam, IACV cleanout/replacement). But runs smooth and gets some looks. I detailed it up before I drove it to work one week and everybody came by my desk and told me how clean and shiny it looked. For a 14 year old car to still shine and look like it does is great.

Guess I felt like going on a rant on how wonderful these cars are. These are classic designed sedans that are functional and comfortable and I love it.

Over 2 years I've had mine and I still love it. I don't think the design looks aged at all and it's a comfortable ride but the Continental tires I have make the handling pretty nice. I definitely understand your comment about the gas mileage. I drive lots of highway and city driving constantly and I usually average between 18-19MPG when I refuel every week using Fuelly. Usually I go 70 on the highway and I do my best to not be accelerating so hard around town, but the engine is so good sometimes I can't help myself lol. I need a few more things and then I can finally stop upgrading things. Last week, someone with a black I35 parked next to me at school with G35 coupe wheels and black grille. Definitely a few different personalities these cars can take too.

Traded my 1997 I30T with 160K that I bought new for a 2013 Maxima

I had an early alternator recall and after that never saw the shop for non wear and tear items

2013 max has had several minor issues and with 3800 miles a new short block !!

I30 looked great with the 17 inch wheels off a 2003 G35

I wish I dropped $3k into new paint and a driver seat cover ad kept the car

These things just love to breathe. Taking it up to 4k rpms it just feels soooo smooth. And we are running 87 in ours. I've thought about when I'm the only one who will be driving it, I will start using 93 and changing out the knock sensors to reset things.
I agree about the different personalities flocking to the car. My great grandmother is 77 and she loves this car. She was a real estate agent and had many different cars and she says by far this one was her favorite. I've seen kids on here who just turned 16 getting their parents I30/35, so that shows you the age range...

The VQ is a great engine; the VIAS at around 3500 RPM kinda reminds me of the VTEC sound in my old Acura, but this is much more subdued. All I put in my car is BP Ultimate (93 octane) so its probably the mix of city driving/ driving style that is killing my mileage. I've read around on the site about the engine not responding too fondly when switching to 87 so I'm sticking with what I use, especially when its not that much of a price difference. With mine, I've kinda gone for an updated/ I30t look (I had some issues with how the car looked for the first few months I owned it) with the I35 wheels and the side skirts and rear spoiler without getting into being overly sporty. I think it's fitting so it has a little more appeal to the eye but still keeps its comfort factor (I have no plans to change suspension and I'm gonna stick with the I35 wheels since they look good and I don't want a thinner profile tire translating into a harsher ride). The one I parked next to had the G35 wheels, blacked out grille, and I even noticed cross drilled rotors.
