I know my I30 doesn't act that way. Auto for me turns them off when I turn off the car. Maybe it's a setting that can be changed by the dealer with their Consult computer.

My i35 takes about 30 seconds after I lock it to turn off the headlights.

It is a 5 minute timer.

This is from the service manual:

While the headlamp is turned ON by “AUTO” of light switch, the 5 minutes timer is activated when the ignition switch signal changes from ON (or START) to OFF (ACC OFF), and either one of LH or RH front door switch ON signal is input.

Exterior lamp battery saver control mode and auto light delay off timer period can be changed by the function setting of CONSULT-II

i also noticed that the clock light is out. i'm pretty sure i saw a thread on how to replace it. that's my project for the weekend. also, when i have my heat on, i noticed this weird rattling in the passenger side (by the window) vent. any ideas on how to fix that?

You have to determine exactly what is rattling first. Try putting some pressure on the plastic air vanes in the air outlet with a screwdriver or something. The blower motor could be vibrating, put you hand on it and see.

In general, start pressing or holding or something on everything in that area til you find the source.
