1996 Cefiro/I30 Transmission or Cluster issues?

Hi everyone,

First problem post here so sorry if its in the wrong spot, every now and again my speedometer dies and i need to whack the top of the cluster to make it work. The other issue is sometimes when starting my car(sometimes once every 2 months sometimes every time i start it) the o/d light flashes random amounts of times. Would that be a cluster or tranny issue? im guessing the cluster due to the fact the speedo randomly dies? The transmission fluid is nice and red and it drives fine so im at a loss to why its flashing xD. And no i dont go out spinning the wheels hooning lol.

Any help or input is appreciated

Thanks
CB7

Flashing OD light is a transmission problem.

The cluster may be repairable just by tightening the screws a little on the back.

Use a code scanner and see what you come up with.
Most auto parts stores will have a free test for you.

Check the oil level in the transmission. This is one of several things that can cause the light to flash.

That's just the thing fluid is in good shape, shifts great, runs great so maybe ill just start with the cluster before i worry haha?
