Hey guys,
Ive looked all over and surprisingly have not found anything on this but is there a DIY on replacing the brake light bulb on a I35? Its the driver side outer tail lamp

it's similar to the maxi.

Open the trunk, there should be an access panel if you pull the liner back.

It pops out from the top. Grab both sides and pull/slide towards the front of the car.

Are there tabs or anything of that sort I should look out for? Dont wanna yank hard on it and damage it.

If I remember correctly...it is a little stubborn, but will give.

I believe you push the housing towards the back window, then lift up from the side that faces you. Then there are five separate T10 (194/168) bulbs that twist out and you replace the ones that are burnt out.

i believe after you take the cover off in the trunk, theres tabs on each side you press and the plate should pull out with all the bulbs and you just unscrew which one needs replacing

doubt the tabs will break, you would have to really force them hard. if theyre stuck just gently wiggle the plate and it should come out

This is how they tell you to remove the assembly if you get the cover when you install a rear spoiler on an A33. The bases that you unscrew for the bulbs are on the bottom of the housing.

I stand to be corrected. You push towards the window, not pull!

ok guys i will look into that but something strage is happening, I notice it doesnt light up when pressing the brake but the lights are on when no brakes are applied. Are there a different set of bulbs that light up, as in normal mode vs brake being applied?

PS. its the driver side far left tailight not working, not the center mount like the pic posted up above

That could possibly be the brake light switch/trigger behind the brake pedal...

So I did a quick search on this brake light switch trigger which I had no clue of but according to this thread http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ht-switch.html someone else posted a similar scenerio as in only the driver side tail light not working ad he was told that if the brake switch trigger isnt working then none of the tailights would be working so that takes that out of the equation

Dual filament bulbs... like the 1157 light up dim when parking lights on and bright when brake pressed.... yes one can go out and not the other.

Oh wow, I have no idea whey I kept posting about the center high mount light, so I apologize for that. As posted, you take out those screw-pop things then pull the liner back. One of them is popping off half the cargo net hook (you'll see a little slot to put in a screwdriver for leverage). Then you twist the socket counter clockwise (top one on an I35) and that gets you to the bulb. I don't know if the bulb is the same as an I30, in which case I believe it was a wedge-style (pushes into the socket) 7443 (perhaps a 3157 also works?). If it's a bayonet style bulb (circular base that screws into the socket), then it would be 1157.
