Need help with installing a air intake for 2001 infiniti i30

Hey guys,

im new to this forums but i was reading around here for a while. My question is this: i bought an 2001 infiniti i30 as my first car about a month ago (for around $4k-5k) its like my "beater" car because my parents think i should play it safe since there are a lot of bad drivers here in toronto. Now i want to put an air intake in my car to make it sound a little bit more aggressive and have that "pull" feeling when i accelerate. The problem is my budget is between $100-$150 and i would like to buy it online from a store that is located in Canada (because of shipping prices and duty) and i will also need to have a step by step guide on how to remove the current air box, and install the new intake (rookie over here).

I know its easy to do it yourself, but i need some advice here from you guys please

If you would have searched the stickies, you would have found this:

I recommend a JWT Popcharger personally; I don't like the Injen design.

Hey thanks for replying, well i need advices on GOOD and cheap intakes that fit my i30, its not like a quick google search can help, most online advices i found are from like 12 years ago so

Need some more variety and maybe an online store that i can browse thru my options

Cheap is terrible, intakes alone already allow more dirt into the engine. Going with a nice filter and adapter setup will go a long way ...

50,000 Miles of use ...

also on stock tube, get maf adapter on ebay, 20 bux, and get 20 bux apexi adapter. Filters are 50-60 bux. I havent played with different model numbers, but there may be a series that bolts directly on the current maf. On my s14, i have a apexi filter that bolts straight to z32 maf.

http://www.injen.com/search.asp?stop...elID=85&Eng=V6

too expensive? worth it? kinda outside my budget honestly and fyi that intake is for the 01 maxima so im assuming it will fit under the hood idk

The Injen design is bad.
It sits right behind the radiator for a true hot air intake.

You get more low end and mid end power on WAI. You get mainly top end power on CAI.

If you're getting a panel filter for your stock air box, I would look into AEM. I know they are available for the I35.

It sucks!!! Had one and the entire intake tube was approx 39"-40" long which is too long and restrictive for our engines.... JWT Popcharger/R2C Filter is the best....You can build your own for less than $150...
1. Dry flow R2C or AEM Dry flow 6" Air Filter
2. MAF Adapter
3. 2 ea 3" x 3" silicone couplings
4. (1) 6" wide x 3" outlet Velocity Stack
Go on to Vibrant Performance website under fabrication...Good Luck!

Here's some of my Intake setups, but remember the OEM intake is short! Look inside your airbox, that small velocity stack is where it all begins!!!! You can construct your own but I would definite incorporate the 6" air filter design! They simply flow better!!!!

Setup No.1 (AEM DryFlow/ MAF Adapter)

Setup No.2 (AEM 6" DryFlow filter/ Vibrant Velocity Stack/MAF Adapter)
