Need help with my i30 (Mass A/F)
2001 Infiniti i30 bought in '10 at 79k, now its at 106k. Never had a problem with it, ran great and then I moved back to Canada and murdered it. Just put on all new rear calipers, pads and rotors. Ive had a CES knock sensor issue since halfway thru the winter (which was a bad one). Its been running like **** since, idling down to 200-500 on start, trouble shifting and taking hills. Ive read a lot of stories online about similar issues and it sounds like its the knock sensor and/or the mass airflow sensor.
Decide to check if the M/AF sensors working by unplugging it and running the car and it sure ran like ****. Very similar problems to mine except a lot worse. Plug the sensor back in and and what do you know it still doesnt work. Guess I ****ed up. So im stuck. i cant get the sensor out because i dont have a T20 with a hole in it to get the sensor out. Dont know if the sensor is broken or the wiring is cause i unplugged it.
If anybody has any advice i really need it.

I cant rev past anything. When I rev it in neutral it just stalls. I got the torx now took the MAF off and cleaned it with CRC MAF cleaner and let it dry. plugged it back in and it doesnt seem to be working.
I can kind of get the engine going if i only push the pedal a centimeter or so, i can do this past 2000. However if i push the pedal too far the engine stalls. Also i can idle the car 'ok' and drive along like that and make it around the block giving it minimal gas.
Is there a way i can test the wiring?

You can test wiring by doing what is called a continuity test. Your need a meter set to ohms or a test light. You unplug the wire harness connectors at both ends of the wires to be tested and then connect the leads of the tester to the ends and see if the wire has continuity, meaning it is solid and free from breaks.
In the case of the MAF, the wires go to the ECU. However, unless there was someone messing around under the hood, wires rarely go bad.
If you don't have any other codes besides the knock sensor, it does sound like a bad MAF. But that is an expensive part to run out and buy because of someones hunch. Do you know anyone with a 2001 Infiniti or Maxima that you could try their MAF for testing? A less expensive option would be to see if you can find one in a salvage yard.
