terribly rough start

Purchased my 2003 i35 with 48k miles three months ago. Had it thoroughly checked out at the dealer. Good bill of health.

Only issues were frozen brake calipers (car had sat idle for several years), a bad tire, and alignment.

Yesterday, when I started her up, she ran as though a couple of plugs were not firing. Tapping the accelerator did not help.

I backed her out of the garage, shut her down, checked the oil level (it was fine), then tried a restart. Fortunately, she started smoothly and the problem (whatever it was) was no longer apparent.

What would have caused this and what might I expect in the future? What, if anything, can I do to prevent a recurrence?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You may have a coil going bad. Did the check engine light come on? Coils often have intermittent problems before complete failure.

No check engine light came on, no other lights at all.
Since then, no further incidents.
Will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for the reply.

Could be lots of things. Bad coilpack(s) and/or an injector related issue are the first two culprits I'd look at.

Keep an eye out for the CEL to flash or come on and stay on.
