Power Steering Pump Replacement
Just bought a new reman PS pump and installed it. The first thing I noticed was that the high pressure banjo bolt was different on the one that came off the car. It had a valve under the bolt that comes out of the bore. The new pump had a shallower bore where the valve was so there was no way to put it in the new one. I used the banjo bolt that came with the new pump and now I get a loud clanking noise at full lock right and left and I can see fluid coming out of the crimp area on the pressure line. The engine also bogged down a little at full lock too. Are there different valve setups on these cars and is the hose designed with a pressure relief of some sort...Any help is greatly appreciated.....Thanks

It turned out that the bypass valve setup that I was assured would work by the parts store wouldn't work. I went around town looking at ones off the shelf from various stores and found the correct setup. As for the crush seals on the banjo bolt, I had to get two from the local dealer because they don't come with the pump and parts stores can't identify the proper ones to be able order them. Luckily someone special ordered some and never picked them up. This was on a 3.5 and was no fun to take the pump back off since you can't really get a good view behind the fender well.
