Questions about A33 I30 fog light bulbs

1. Are they dealer only?
2. Was there a design change at some point?

I ask because I went to replace mine today (left one is out, right one is OE), but to my dismay, I discovered the GE ones I bought from Rock Auto wouldn't quite fit (and I didn't want to jam them in there). I stopped at an Advance while on an errand just to check what the Sylvania ones looked like, and they looked just like the GE ones. I've been looking online at various parts stores, and those that have listings all have ones that I do not think will fit. I took a pic of the (would-be) new one and the old to illustrate.

Old is on the left, the GE is on the right

Why won't they fit? They look damn near identical.

The notch on the top of the GE one is narrower, won't fit the channel in the housing.

I had that issue a few years ago. Gotta love those dremel tools for times like this.

Sadly I do not have a dremel at my disposal. Would side cutters work?
