2000 I30! I finally got a Fancy car!

Hey folks! As I continue my tour of trying all sorts of cars the world has to offer, I now have an I30 Touuuuuring edition, Oooh Ahhh, its pretty sweet! (150,000 Miles on it)

I've been lucky enough to track race a G37 IPL and G35's that friends have owned but those are expensive and my budget is...smaller, now I get an infiniti of my very own! Big fan of Maximas, always wanted a 6th gen 6 speed, but when this car came up, I couldn't say no!

A mere 300$ USD was its owner asking (negotiated the new Chinese snow tires on 17's for a tiny bit more, towed it out of an apartment building parking lot with my F150 and a Uhaul Car dolly), no start, 2 sets of wheels, good body condition mostly, pretty filthy. So far I've cleaned it a lot, removed the plasti-dip from the stock wheels, fixed the Bose subwoofer, inspected all the suspension\brakes\bearings and pulled the starter (OMG so easy compared to many cars), which made sad little cough cough noises when banging on it, and refused to turn over. Off to the scrapyard today for a starter and fingers crossed the thing fires up! I have no idea what it drives like or power, but I'm hopeful! Quality on the car looks really good, has that front crossmember rust and some fender rust but I can fix all that.

Future plans are to make all the stock features work and safe for the road, perhaps the ghetto air box and some tires with more tread.(and redo all the rust) (appears to have a rear main leak, sure would be a nice excuse to manual trans swap it, they are everywhere in the scrapyards now, VQ35 cars, 6 speeds, all sitting their unmolested, crazy) I've owned lots of cars and trucks owned by people who've ruined them and struggle to get them to a nice state of affairs, but this car seems to have been cared for my a senior before the 20ish yr old kid got a hold of it, and seems to have semi-taken care of it.

Success! got a starter from the scrapyard and it fired up, runs well! the Auto, well, it wasn't shifting very well between 1 and 2, got better as it warmed up but not very good indeed. I read about all the potential issues with the trans, we'll see if a fluid change fixes anything! Brakes are all screwed up too, almost no brakes and pedal goes to floor, first of the rear calipers had siezed sliders. Banging noise was rear muffler broken clamp to mid pipe, amazing how quiet the car was with no rear muffler attached, that mid muffler is like 3 feet long, nice!

Motor makes a good noise!

Just noticed you're in Calgary too, how has your I30 journey gone since?

I bought a 2007 BMW 330xi wagon 6 speed in Toronto that needed work, road tripped it across canada with my friend back to Calgary! Just about have it ready for the out of province now.
I missed the manual transmission too much! sold it to an older chinese couple, they were into early 2000's infinitis!

Good call on the radiator support, it was starting to rot on that car, but not bad, I painted and undercoated it for the new owners, hopefully they've been enjoying it since last year!
