2002 Nissan Maxima with mods for sale. Needs work. Sell as is.
need some help fixing my father's 2002 Nissan Maxima so I can sell it. My father isn't around anymore and my family is in need of the money that the car could bring us if sold. The car has been off the road since 2007 due to no one driving it. prior to taking it off the road MAF blew and this may have affected the intake, I think. I just put a brand new battery in the car. It turns over when you start it but the immediately dies. Does anyone know if that could be the case? Would the MAF being blown affect the intake?
I understand that these parts and service would be expensive but I figure i'll get the money back once the car is sold, I just don't want to spend the money and learn that it was a waste. does anyone In the Springfield, Ma. area work on these vehicles or know anyone who does? I would greatly appreciate any help or advice given and love to hear some responses.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
My car should be viewable on the website, let me know if its not.

Well, when my MAF went bad it did not affect my intake at all. But, my car would not rev past 2500rpms. Get in touch with Dave Burnett from South Point Nissan if that is the problem. You will probably(i did) need to get a 2K1 MAF. Just remember to remove the IAT sensor from your 2002 MAF housing and install it in the 2001 MAF housing. Take your time when doing this part!!!! Good luck with the sell.

MAF is just a sensor, doens't really mess up anythin. MAF is the only reason your car won't stay running (so far), bad MAF=bad revs and stall out. Replace it like harmbone said and the car should run fine.
Do a search in 5th gen forum on how to replace, I'm pretty sure it just plugs in though (i have a 4th gen)

did you say it stopped running when the "MAF blew out"? Or did it just stop running here recently? If it hasn't been run in a long time (2007 when you took it off the road) then it could be just bad gas.

Fuel Pump? I don't think it would start up even for a minute if that was shot tho...when the car is actually running is it running rough ? or is it kind of running smooth and then just dies. if its rough, you can check fuel injectors...but i'm not sure if would actually cause the motor to stall....but i'm no mechanic...just mess around with my car as a hobby....but you can check it out its actually up for sale...so you will see i actually do know a little lol
