FS: 2001 SE 5 speed w/ mods - NJ - Negotiable

This is my third maxima and it has been very good to me as a daily driver but its time I move onto something better, or more to my preference (a coupe of some sort) not to mention I dont want to go through the process of fixing some of the smaller issues on this car since my time is limited nowadays.

I am the second owner of this car. Originally purchased 4 years ago with 62k miles. I bought car from an older/married PA resident that used it as a daily driver to work in New York. Nice older gentleman who did not put a single mod on the car.

Car is Sterling Mist with beige cloth interior, 137k miles.

FEATURES:
power driver seat
cloth interior
sunroof
manual climate control

Engine never gave me any issues aside from a few 02 sensors and a crank shaft sensor. Car has original motor and original tranny. I replaced the MAF with a brand new one from dealer when car had close to 100k miles. Till this day, the car drives fine, idles fine and shifts perfectly. However, the car does have some issues that should be addressed but will not stop it from driving.

Issues:
1) Heat is extremely weak. I'm not sure whats causing this.
2) brake fluid has a slight leak. I am forced to fill the resevoir weekly to keep it above the minimum line. You can find new SS brake lines for great prices on here or even ebay for less than 150.
3) CEL light is on. Code: P0135. I checked autozone and the code shows for an 02 sensor replacement (02 sensor is less than 150 from DAVEB)
4) Throw out bearing is going. Car has no issue with shifting or anything but you can hear an 'air' sound. Bearing is cheap, but replacing involves dropping the transmission.
5) Small ding on the passenger fender. It looks like it can be popped out.
6) Passenger headlight has a broken holder so it has a slight wiggle (recommend replacing but not necessary).
7) Back bumper has some scratches.

GOODIES:
1) B&M Short throw shifter with poly filled TCM piece to make shifting even smoother.
2) Clifford 2 way pager alarm with remote start (professionally installed) and remote start on a 5 speed.
3) Will come with Eclipse AVN 5435 Navi/DVD/CD system
4) Warpspeed y-pipe
5) Tsudo 2.5" StainlessSteel Catback system (greddy look a like)
6) 2k2 Smoked tails
7) Tokico Illumina shocks w/ Tein H tech springs
8) G35 18X8" rims (they have curb rashes but compliment the car well), 3 17" OEM rims, 2 16" GXE rims w/ good tires
9) All smoked side markers
10) will come with a rainbow component system and kicker 5 channel amp
11) AE pedals & Nismo shift ****
12) Stillen side skirts
13) Exedy Stage I clutch
14) Optima Red Top Battery with 3 year warranty at Autozone (started 12/08)
15) Custom Maxima FSTB
16) Already prepped for connecting any dvd/video game system that uses RCA's.
17) SS Clutch line (completely override the slave cylinder for smoother feel and less troubles if bleeding lines is ever needed)
18) PR Racing Cross drilled/slotted Front Rotors

Maintenance:
1) Used Mobil 1 Synthetic, changed every 6-8k miles since purchase of car.
2) Used NGK Copper plugs every 30k miles since purchase.
3) Replaced MAF ~ 100k miles.
4) Changed wheel bearing and driver side axle during the mid Fall of 08.
5) Just replaced alternator with remanufactured one, installed professionally. Has 1 year free labor/parts warranty and lifetime parts warranty after that.
6) New starter from autozone with lifetime warranty just installed on 4/09.
7) I have replaced 2 02 sensors, a crankshaft sensor along with a few other minor things. I have records showing these items were replaced.
8) Replaced fuel filter at 75k miles
9) Replaced tranny fluid at 130k miles with Redline MT 90

This car has never been taken to the track. I had a boosted maxima previously and although this one is pretty quick, the power is not the same and the feel is more luxurious than my previous max. I just didnt feel right doing aggressive driving in this car. I have done some WOT runs when I first got my exhaust and a few quick 2 gear runs when I see something really interesting on the highway but no major highway racing nor aggressive shifting.

This car is 8 years old and has been a daily driver since purchase. Interior/exterior cosmetics are ok (atleast a 6/10). After a wash/detail, it still shines and would make a great daily driver or project car for the next owner.

The value of this car is rated at 5k private party and 3k trade in, ofcourse without the extra mods. This is in FAIR condition for both prices. This car is a mechanics dream and would be a great purchase for anyone struggling with money but looking to purchase a car with potential. Clean title, already paid off, 2 owners and has seen 5th gear 85% of its life.

I am ASKING $3,000 with everything including e sets of rims (17" stock rims, 18" G35 rims, 16" GXE rims). Currently, the front tires on the G35 rims were heavily worn so I put stock 16" rims in the front. These would also come with the car. With less than 1k guaranteed invested in this car, all the small issues will be solved, the cosmetic issues can be fixed and this car can make a great daily driver or a potential project car.

I will add pictures later but car looks similar to my sig without the front/rear stillen lip.

Please contact me at ceonyema@yahoo.com if you have any questions. I will try to update this thread with more information.

You can see the ding on the passenger side fender.

You can see the scratches on rear bumper in this picture.

More pictures can be found here. I will try to take more when the car is clean.

I was looking through my computer and found some pictures of my car from early winter. You can still see the snow on the ground. The front and rear lip are gone but atleast you can see how they looked with rims and side skirt.

Once again, car drives fine, starts up fine, just takes an extra turn sometimes cause of starter. I usually use remote start and it starts up normally. Car ready to be tested. Still my daily driver if worried that car wont start, hasnt let me down.

Original engine and tranny.

PICTURES OF MY MAX

In the pics, you can see the scratches on rear bumper. I will add more pics when I get a chance.

Just took some updated photos today. Car hasnt been washed in over 2 weeks. Please forgive the dirtiness inside and outside of car. I also took some videos of car starting. Once again, it starts every time but even with a Red optima battery it still has some hesitation due to starter. I will try to upload those.

Here are a few videos of my car. It shows the slight issue with start up, the ding on the fender, scratches on rear bumper, loudness of exhaust during cold start up and a few of the features inside the car.

lol, sorry man, I have nothing but love for Nissan. I am still a true believer that the VQ30DE-K is one of the best engines out there. With my heat issues, and other small things, the one thing that has kept me happy about this car is the audio system (thanks Pearl96max) and the engine . One day in the future I may come back and get another as a daily driver again but for now, taking a different route.

e46. I think e36 too boxy. I dont want to speak anymore about the car until I have it in my driveway. I get scared that I jinx myself sometimes.

thanks man, I am trying to make this as easy as possible. I understand the economy, and general situation everyone is going through. At this price I'm confident I can go to a private dealer and drop off the car for cash but a maxima enthusiast would get more out of the car. I have more of a space issue than money at the moment.

If car doesnt move in another week, I may start looking elsewhere

Just came across this thread.

Mecca is a stand-up guy whom I've known as a friend for a while. I've worked on this car personally and though he's right in that it needs some work, the price is VERY fair considering all the mods you get.

Good luck with the sale buddy, and if you need some help de-modding, if that's the route you go.

Hey, I am still interested, I am the one with the email and the voicemail. I just haven't gotten a chance to get there yet. I am very interested and likely at the price you posted. Just concerned with the issues a bit.

Heat? Bubbles in coolant system or something as extreme as heater core?
Brakes? Simple brake lines or rusted main lines or even master cylinder?
02 sensor? Simple 02 code or the dreaded P0430 P0420 codes?

If you could pm or post the answers to me it would be GReaT!

I honestly do not know what is causing the issues.

Heat, it can be something as big as like a water pump possibly or something small. I never had car looked at for heat issue, but the anti freeze fluid has been topped off for quite some time if that means anything and A/C works fine (if there is any relation, which I doubt).

Brakes, I'm confident there is a leak somewhere, just not sure where. It could require replacing the brake lines. Its possible to live with it as I have but I had to get used to new braking distances.

02 sensor code would only hurt gas mileage. However, I average over 330 miles a tank with atleast a tank and change to spare these past few weeks and thats with 80% highway driving. So I would say the gas mileage is ok whether 02 was changed or not.

I did receive your VM and you are more than welcome to come see car, just let me know your availability in advance.

BTW, personal circumstances have given me more of a reason to keep car, either as a primary or secondary vehicle so though I'm interested to sell, its not as important to sell as it once was. The things that need to be fixed would easily keep you under 4 grand total including price of car. Car is worth 5k private party in FAIR condition, not including the extras. I still consider this a steal.

Mecca, I have a full set of OEM brake lines sitting around. I think I posted a FS thread for them in the 5th gen classifieds. Let me know if you want them - cheap

I also vouch for this being a STEAL.

So, my name is David and I am a student down here in Va. at ODU. I had a maxima that looks identical to yours. I have took into consideration the issues you have stated and I have seen the pictures and I think your price range of 3000 dollars is a reasonable price. I would love to come up to NJ to come check out this car. I see it is in pretty good shape and once it is back in order it can be a beast. If you have changed your price please let me know. The only issues with me is I would have to wait until I can get a free weekend to come up and look at this car. I currently drive a 97' toyota camry that is in great condition. It just bores me to death and I know I can get more than 3000 if I get rid of my car. So getting the money is no problem, but if you're still selling the car please please please!!! let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
