VA For sale: 1998 Maxima SE 5-speed $3600 (VA/DC/MD)
For sale: 1998 Maxima SE 5-speed $3600 (VA/DC/MD)
1998 Nissan Maxima SE with five-speed transmission. Sterling mist exterior and black and gray cloth interior. 173,xxx miles. VIN JN1CA21D3WT530951. Passed VA safety inspection on 01/16/2011, and a brand new battery just days before that. Options include power driver seat, Bose stereo, 16" factory aluminum wheels, and power sun/moon roof. The only things that are not stock are the aftermarket tinted windows and the quintessential Y-pipe.
I am the second owner and bought this car at about 145,xxx mi. The first owner garaged this car and drove it for work. He was a salesman that dealt with banks statewide, so he accumulated a majority of the highway miles. (In the Midwest, there isn't the stop-and-go driving that puts a lot of wear on engines like we have here in DC.) I also garaged it until we moved from Missouri to Lake Ridge, Virginia in January of 2010. I only use Castrol Syntec synthetic motor oil in the engine, and Redline Synthetic gear oil in the transmission. The engine never burns or leaks oil, and still returns more than 20 miles per gallon of fuel. The touring tires have at least 60% life. The clutch was replaced during my ownership.
The right rearview mirror has minor damage from contact with a garage doorway detailed in the photo. The remote mirror works/moves and it does not rattle or cause any distractions or problems.
Everything that came with this car from day one is still with it, down to the floormats, trunk carpet, keyfob, owner's manual, jack kit and spare tire. All in good working order.I even have some extras like Haynes repair manual (paperback), Nissan Factory Service Manual (on CD), and a partial can of Sterling Mist spraypaint.
This car is as clean as an older car gets, and is very well maintained. Absolutely everything works well: AC, power antenna, stereo, cruise control, everything. We bought an SUV for the growing family and I moved here for a government job that issued me a car for everyday use so this Maxima just sits there. I can't justify maintaining, insuring and paying taxes on it for no reason.

Fixed pics in OP.
If you want to see the entire set of 24 photos of the car, please register on flickr or use a yahoo ID to log in on flickr. It's the only photo sharing site I am on, sorry.
I forgot to mention: This car also has the stainless steel braided clutch line.

I would prefer someone local or within about 75 miles just to avoid the hassle, but I am willing to travel a reasonable distance (a couple of hours) to facilitate a sale for someone seriously trying to buy, but driving all the way to you in NJ is a lot to ask. Especially if you are just wanting to look at it.
I can meet you some place in the middle, maybe Baltimore, and preferably with some sort of guarantee like a negotiable deposit or something.

Yes. I still have the car, however, due to the federal government's financial troubles, that issued government car I mentioned in the original post may be taken away and I'd have to keep this Maxima for commuting. I will update this thread as soon as that issue is resolved. Sorry for not posting this up sooner.
