MA 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE
2000 Nissan Maxima GLE
Hey fellas. I hope this is the proper place for a thread like this. I am really just looking for a price to list this car for on craigslist. On the other hand i would certainly sell it to a member here. I originally posted to trade it for a motorcycle but the only replies so far have been offer to buy it for cash.
I have no idea what it's worth being that it's got some minor issues plus a salvage title. I'll copy/paste the craigslist info and a link to the post.
Craigslist post:
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE I'm looking to trade for a motorcycle. Following I will list in two sections the good and the bad that I know if. It is my elderly mothers car that was given to me when she bought a new one because of all the work I had done on it. So although it has a few things that need work it was used lightly and locally and drives perfectly fine from my understanding.
It recently failed inspection for the exhaust because I installed an OBX-header system, test-pipe, and cat-back- all stainless steel. It also failed for what is listed as "front end" and the I called the shop to ask what exactly it was that it failed for up front and they told me I would need to come in to get that information. Very shady in my opinion and I question if there is even really anything wrong up there.
The exhaust failure is because I installed an o2 bypass for the secondary sensors. It is installed and appears to be functioning correctly judging by the green blinking light on it. However, 6 months later the catalyst check hasn't completed for OBD2. There are no codes and no pending codes, which I can show on my scanner. I thought this vehicle was exempt this year in Massachusetts going by the manufacture date, however it turns out it isn't emissions exempt until Jan. 1, 1015. Rather then putting the money into a new catalytic converter and new o2 sensors my parents decided to just buy a new car.
As far as the theoretic front end issue go's, if anyone is interested and would like to know the issue just let me know and I'll go down to the shop and ask the mechanics what was up with it. Alternatively I can just lift it up myself and see if there is anything noteworthy wrong under there.
The good:
-fully loaded
-cruise control
-A/C + automatic climate control
-all new exhaust
-Bose stereo system
-power seats
-3.0l v6 no issues
-4sp automatic with no issues
-sun-roof
-traction control on/off
-weapon-R"cold air intake" with new K&N filter
-brand new OBX header system complete with test-pipe and cat-back. All stainless steel with new primary o2 sensors
-body has some dents and dings, however rot is extremely minor and from what I see limited to just behind the rear door(s)
-EGR pipe has been dismantled and thoroughly cleaned
-new starter installed 2 years ago
-new spark plugs installed with header system
-new ignition coils installed between 3-4 years ago by my father
-new fan this year
-new blower motor (climate control)last year
-brakes have been kept up and parking brake works great
the known bad:
-whatever the "front end" issue the inspection station identified was
-catalyst monitor not completing because of bypass(no light, no code, no pending code)
-dent in rear bumper
-had a fairly minor hit in the front at low speed that broke the bumper so the bad portion of the valance was cut away. The radiator support took some damage. You could replace the support, it's not a hard job and they are inexpensive. We opted not to.
-dent where the hood latch is, presumable from people pressing to hard in the center to close the hood.
-minor rust behind rear door or doors
-could use new belts, they get a little squeaky in humidity but it go's away.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know. If you have any questions please feel free to email me with the following in the title typed exactly as I have typed it, "2000 MaXima Nissan GLE" or you won't receive a reply.
I I'm looking for a motorcycle that is road registrable in Massachusetts, which means it will need a valid title. I may be interested in other trades so feel free to email me with whatever you have. I have a bunch of 2001 Saab 9-3 parts left over from a part out I can throw in or trade separately if anyone is interested. I also have some random John Deere parts from a snow-blower to fit a blower/weight bracket to what I believe is the LX series. I can double check the compatibility if anyone is interested.
