1988 Maxima Sell or fix? Engine VG30E V6 SOHC

Beautiful car, 3rd owner, records since new, everything works but the engine. I either need to fix it or sell it. Suggestions? Offers?

Have you compared costs of engine replacement versus selling (how much $$$ for?) and what additional capital may be needed for another car? Maybe drop a VQ35 in there (unless sourcing specific parts for this iteration is very difficult to come by)
To give a bit of perspective: I had an 01 AE that I SHOULD have fixed (accident damage affecting body work and some suspension components). It had approx. 118K on it when I decided to part ways with it, and slide into a 2008 GS (money spent). Then after this was showing signs of expensive repairs, I ended up in a lease (Q50, more money spent). Simply fixing my Maxima would have saved me tens of thousands of dollars in additional vehicle costs (ended my first Maxima campaign circa 2014, so almost 6 full years of other car expenses and costs) and I would have been driving a car I loved still; assuming cost is a concern here. Plus it's the "devil you know" since owning it with full service record history.

Keep it ...

There are like 7 of these still in existence in the U.S.

Considerations

I've owned over 60 vehicles and am well aware of wasting money by trading "the devil I know..." But... I love cars. I'm also nostalgic for what I "should have done" back then. The 2nd gen Maxima is one I admired yet passed on. I'm not a mechanic. Wouldn't it require sourcing, time, money, and expertise to install a different model engine? It's not being used for daily transportation. Tnx for knowledgeable and experienced comments or suggestions.
