you should contact JIC Magic, Technosquare, and SSR.

Also consider contacting some of the larger aftermarket parts companies such as greddy, blitz, HKS, turbonetics, apexi, brembo, tire rack, etc. I mean sure we're not a HUGE part of their business but we certainly make up a good chunk. We probably have all bought something from each of those companies at some point in time. And historically they have been interested in large meets like this.

They're on the list of places to contact already. doubt they'll show, but they may be willing to throw in some goodies for the raffle.

1100 miles from Columbus, Ohio. Marking it on the calendar after I type this.

Fred, I'm sure there will be a few of us coming from Ohio like Jason aka 00MaxSE and maybe Chuck aka SgtSchulze.

Kansas City would be more central, Chicago is 8 hours from here, and Dallas is 8 hours from here as well.

But I'll be real, there are more Maxima's in Texas than there are people in Kansas.

what would be cool is if at every major city from both the East Coast and the West Coast, guys would meet those coming from cities further away, and kept on trucking until the there were 100+ Maxima's meeting at the "last stop" in Oklahoma City or something, and then they made the final "voyage" to Dallas.

Imagine the trail of a guy from Boston.

First Stop, NYC, the 4 guys from Boston meet with the 5 from the NYC area, and 2 guys from Vermont/upstate New York at set date and time, then those 11 guys drive on to Philly and meet 4 more guys, also in Philly, a couple guys from South Jersey, Deleware, etc..you get the point.

Then they continue Southwest and stop at Lousiville Kentucky (or where ever) and pick up the guys coming down from Cinci/Cleveland and up from Tennessee.

Then they head to Indianapolis...same thing. They pick up 5 more guys.

Then on to St. Louis, 5 more guys, then Oklahoma City In Oklahoma City are guys coming from Kansas City, from Kansas City were the KC guys, the Minniapolis guys and so on and so forth...

all the guys coming from the West coast, there last stop would be...San Antonio? or Amirilo (depending on whether or not they were coming from Northwest or Southwest.

We would plan this out to have everyone pulling into Dallas about the same time.

We have how long to plan this?

If my Maxima doesn't sell, and we get a HUGE showing in Dallas I'll even show up with 5 or 6 other KC guys.

This sounds like a big undertaking, but I think this would make it more "interesting" and would make more people want to be a part of it. Can you imagine all the people that would come?

your thoughts?

I think you have a very active imagination!

Something similar has been done at many other meets and car shows in the past. When the Houston group left for Traxxion a few months back, they stopped several times on the way.. They all met somewhere in Houston (wal-mart parking lot or something) and left with ~20 cars I think. stopped a few times along the way at other locations to pick up other people, then had a pretty good caravan going by the time they hit Traxxion in Dallas.

Definitely.. I've done that for a few other meets as well. With this much advance notice on the event, we should be able to plan quite a bit of this. It'll definitely make the drive easier for the long haul guys to have some company.
Once we get a bit more people that have expressed interest, we can start planning some of that kind of stuff.

Also realize that many people will have to leave on Wed or Thurs (possibly even Tues!) if they want to make it to Dallas by Friday afternoon.

Just a scenario:
Dallas is about 14 hours from Indianapolis if you go straight through little rock (and some small highways)
But if you go on major highways (I-70, I-44, I-35), you can go through OK City and only add 1/2 hour and 50 miles to the trip... Which would allow you to stop in St Louis, Joplin, Tulsa, and OK City on your way down... the KC guys could either head soth to Joplin, or they could to southwest and meet you in OK City.. pick up the wichita guys on the way through there as well. so on, so forth.

I'm seriously considering telling my wife I'm not going to sell the Maxima.

it's gotta be one of the best ever made, the 3rd Gen and the 5.5 Gen's...hat's where it's at...
I can't get rid of it! I'll regret it 15 years from now.

What has gone wrong in the past and why we will suceed. ::::: Usually what makes these things fail is that there is often a poll that goes out asking what day people would like to have the meet. THis often goes on for a long period of time, and by the time it is decided on, it is too late for many people to save up vacation time, and get the days off.

Here's what we're doing. June 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2005 in the Dallas Fort Worth area. This will be hosted by Dallas Nissan Enthusiasts, and Houston Nissan Enthusiasts. Some of you may already know, and some of you may not even care. I am the president of HNE, and we have over 100 members. I have been in contact already with Darrick Phillips, Darrick here on the org, who is the president of Dallas Nissan Enthusiasts who have close to 150 members, and he is currently scouting possible dealerships in the DFW area that might be able to support a 100-300 car showing.

Yes, I know the dates above are 3 days, but it is not necessary to be there all three days. I had in mind a dinner gathering on Friday night for those of you who wish to drive in and stay for the entire weekend. Saturday would be the actual show, and I will see if I can find out about reserving some track time at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis for some structured 1/4 mile runs on a Pro strip.

This date and location gives everyone plenty of time to save up vacation time if you don't already have it as well as beating your co-workers to the time sheet to get that weekend off. You have a whole year here people, so I would love to see a good turnout. I will be attempting to get with a hotel chain in the area see if we can get a block of rooms at a discounted rate as well. First I will need to find out which dealership Darrick thinks will be the best.

Please post any feedback or suggestions in this thread, and if the mods want to make it a sticky, then so be it.

David Warner
President (HNE) Houston Nissan Enthusiasts

I hope to god if I am back from Iraq that time period, I will be attending this if is not too freaking far meaining more then 6 hours away from New Orleans. 12 hours total from Marietta Ga. If any NO/baton rouge members wish to attend, hey if its shorter to go to NO and leave from there then Ill do it

I am sooo in on a national Maxima event- the word must be spread more widely... if we could get more than 200 Maximas to attend it would be awesome. I know there are way more than 200 Maximas on this forum. Someone told me that the 05 SE-R Convention will be in Chicago so I might be wrong bout TX. It takes months to plan something as large and get vendros and sponsors to cooperate. This year Nissan sponsored a large chunk of the meet we've had. As a matter a fact the SE-R car show was held at Nissan NA headquarters. SE-R convention was held in SoCal this year.

Yes, I belive they are going to be holding it in Houston or Austin- they are all voting on the location and track. Looks like March of 05 is what some people are shooting for, should be nice weather since its way south in the warmer side of the country.

Being March and in the South doesn't guarantee good weather. It won't be freezing we know for sure, but It's rained here in Houston at LEAST four or five days a week since Feb. yeah, you read it right. Good luck planning a meet around that!

Anyway, we're already working on sponsors for the event and have a bunch of stuff lined up. Hotel discounts, lots of toys to raffle off, and we're working on a driving event on Sunday- whether it be Auto X, road course, or dragstrip.

Matt, if they do anything with road racing in mind- I could instruct with ya on how to run. I'm going in 2 weeks to a local track to try out my new suspension- then I'm finally gonna get those TTZ caliper relocation brackets from ya Maybe they can do both drag race n road race track day.... I reather do something better than just go straight in line for few seconds.

Matt, he's right, the SE-R forums are covered with performance enthusiats, it took a bling bling Maxima guy like myself to convince them to make an Audio/Electronics forum. They are all about performance, and weight reduction.
These guys drive around with no interior to get the max out of their cars on a daily basis.

Me? I'm going turbo with my SE-R, but I'm also going to have an interior...I'm getting leather installed in it right now.

The reason I'd like to do both at once is that the Maxima guys would have a new found appreciation for other FWD Nissan's (notice how you gave no respect to the classic SE-R) and I could knock out both conventions on one trip.

you didn't read my reply afterwards, did you? I was being sarcastic with that post... you also didn't note the winking smiley..
I've been spanked by many an SE-R on the track, and know their capabilities- especially when they have another 100hp on the average Maxima and a much better driver. for most cases, it'll be US giving the wave-by... not vice versa.

Older couple was at my dealership today buying a 6spd TSX in red- the grandma- around 60 years old... was driving a red 92 SE-R with sunroof, AC, stock Nissan radio, cruise control. She was going to trade the car in but she thought bout selling it on the street... so now I have a month to decide if I want this SE-R (their TSX won't be ready till end of July)... its soooo spotless and no accidents ever- 104K miles on it. Shes a school teacher- and ofcourse its a 5spd with original clutch. I am buying it with the intention of doing a 300WHP 2.0L GT28RS turboed motor for road racing- meaning stock engine with just turbo for awesome response. If anything I will be at MAXUS with my SE-R- if I get it.... should be interesting.

How about we actually start planning this one for next year so sponsors will be there?
Talking about '04 is fine, but we're planning '05 now so that it will be more than a bunch of people meeting up at a dragstip (no thanks. my tranny has enough problems as is.)

Im sorry to see you won't be making it in September. Yep the 2004 meet will be held at the track -vs- some type of park parking lot. Its a meet just like any other except there is an activity to actually participate in if you would like. Who says you have to race if you come to the meet? And to think planning this far ahead will actually make for a good turnout, maybe 5 years ago when there was more gearheads -vs- a bunch of teenages that just care about street racing and how cool there intake is. Sure you will see a ton of "Im in" but like always something will come up and 80% of the people will find a way not to come. I hope its a success and I plan to come reguardless but I have learned that no matter how far you plan ahead its the same deal over and over. Just wait when 2005 comes and the meet is a week away 1/2 the people will all of a sudden find out they have to work

Yup.. totally understand.
I'm going to try to make it to KY as well, but it's 1000 miles away- lot of driving for an unsponsored event.

we're planning '05 now so there will be more things to do. we're looking at renting out a roadcourse, dragstrip, or an auto X course- not sure which one yet, depends on the funding.
we're also going to have multiple vendors on hand- Cattman, Warpspeed, Stillen, Courtesy, myself.. hopefully SWA, Berk, Frankencar, etc. Even Nissan NA has been contacted and at Maxus'00, they sent a few of their engineers to the event to talk to us.

we're planning a LOT of giveaways/drawings as well, plus a judged car show for those that want to enter.
this won't be a parking lot circle jerk- that's why we're planning this a year in advance.

As for KY, I'd love to make it, but I'm not into drag racing anymore. too much wear and tear on the car to drive 1000+ miles for 14.x seconds of fun. So the people who aren't running get to sit in the stands or stand in a circle in the parking lot and talk about how fast their car is. Not much else going on for attractions- but I'm still going to try to make it.

National meets sound good. HoweverOn the east coast we have at least 2 meets a year that have 150+ maximas show. up to chill for a day. 1 is Angies NE meet in NJ and the other is the DC MEet which we are having July 31st this year at the Beach. So far what you guys are setting up is a good Idea but to make people drive more than 12 hours to show up you would have to have more than just a day to chill at the nissan dealership. I am not *****ing, just trying to make it more interesting for people. Anyone remember the thread I did earlier in the year about how far will people drive. The fact that this is in texas Most people will have VERY LOONG trips to make to attend this meet. There has to be a little more incentive than just a standard meet

Not to sound all whinny or anything... but we had a convention in SoCal for our SE-R Club of America, We have had national conventions since 97- going on our 8th year. Like I mentioned our conventions are like meeting up with old friends, there is lots of car stuff to do but other stuff also. The convention is before the "FORUM ERA" of today. We conversed via a SE-R Mailing list since 1992, so our club is kinda big. Alot of people drove from as far as MAINE to SoCal for a national convention.... we know how to have fun togheter with cars involved.
