Right now i'm talking with the special events/group reservations people of the Marriot as well as the Hampton inn (both in mesquite)
They both have fitness areas, pools(one indoor, one outdoors), free breakfast and highspeed internet. But the Hampton has a great outdoor area that would be good for a bbq, drinking, or what not.

Here's a pic of the out side area for Hampton inn (haven't gotten any pic's from marriot to show the outside area.

Just want to keep everyone in the looop --- hopefully i'll have some more info to pass on in the near future

yeah, that hotel does look like a nice place to hang. i would be interested in a price for the nights. maybe we can get a break for being there a few nights with so many rooms. but i'm sure someone has already worked that out.

and yea, i was just joking. i may be bringing my girl down, depending on what she wants. she's too good to lose!

Northern, you're gonna enjoy this event! Be ready for the heat, though. They gave away about 400 gallons of cold water in bottles last year, which saved several lives on Sunday....

Hey, maybe you could arrange a car-pool with Jclaw and Jime - if those guys could come too, then us guys from the lower 48 could get the real word on whether Canadian air is really a mod. Plus, meeting you Canadians would be special.

Yeah, they call that sweat! Next year, margaritas instead... Do you think you could get Jose's premixed Golden margaritas instead of water? You could double attendance just like that !

Haha, glad you want to meet us. I live in Northern Ontario so I have to take a completely different route than they would though (I live close to 1000 miles from Jime) I'm actually closer to Texas. I pretty much take one highway right from my town to Dallas (Hwy 35). I'll be passing through Minneapolis and caravaning with some .orgers there.

This will be the third state/province I've attended a Maxima meet in!

Exclamation Update!

I just got word back from the Hampton Inn and the Marriott.

Marriott can set us up with up to 30 rooms for $79 (reg. $109) - single or double same price. (Still no outside pictures)

Hampton inn is almost full and has only 15 suites left and 5 reg. rooms. The suites are $115 (reg. $142) and standard rooms for $85 (reg. $102)

I'm going to contact other hotels on the list -- and see what they say...

-----
Yep, being in the hotel industry we get great discounts -- If only we could set that up for everyone --- would be nice

Just don't get too close - I've never pulled a car on a trailer before - I bought the Frontier in Feb, and the trailer two weeks ago.

I just put the car on for the first time yesterday, to go to KCIR today, but we've had rain (the strip got wet today), 2-inch hail, and assorted tornados in this region for the last 12 hours, so I stayed home today. The package pulls well, so now I'll have time to put on new rotors and pads on the front of the Max. I toasted the front brakes a few times last year. Something about 0-102-0 in one-half mile that causes brake damage, I guess....

I'm looking forward to Maxus '06 -

So is it tornado season now? I was wondering if we'll be driving through during a bad time on the way to Maxus...I have visions of cows and Maximas flying through the air

I dont think it'll be too bad, but we are driving right through the prime area for tornados.

Funny - Actually, the was a tornado in Missouri today (or yesterday) that put a car on the roof of a house - CNN was showing it. We had some minor-league tornados from Oklahoma through Missouri and Kansas - today. I stayed home and did NOT drive 90 miles to Kansas City - just as well - they had rain and nasty weather three times today.

Oklahoma is the scariest part of the I35 trip (tornado alley is THERE) - I've seen some really bad weather there - even coming home from Maxus '05 there were bad storms across the interstate that parked me for 2 hours. We may see bad weather again this year.

When in doubt, get off the road and - no shizz ....

I've been told to get out of the car and lie in the ditch, lol.

We had a small tornado rip through our yard 3 years ago...that did enough damage that I can't imagine what the big ones are like! At least my tires are great in the rain and resist hydroplaning really well.

I lived through a monster F5 in '66 ( yes, I am old) and that scared the H*ll out of me..... And if a funnel picks you up, it won't be just your tires that are " 'planing " .... LOL ....

Yes, when in doubt, leave your car and head for a ditch or culvert - forget the car ... and wave at me as I fly by......

Of course, everybody that lives in the Midwest has tornado stories - some are even true! Personally, I worry more about cops than tornados. Come to Maxus '06 anyway.....

The madness continues : Kansas City Fox Channel 4 reported earlier on a "half-mile wide" tornado that "devestated" (sp?) Sedalia Missouri this afternoon, and at 8:10 PM there was another "monster tornado" bearing down on Concordia Missouri, next to I70, between Kansas City and St. Louis. Sheesh - a bad day all around.

yeah, this is Tornado season.. it should be done by late april or early May though.. part of the reason I don't mess with having shows around that time. too many rainstorms in the area.

down here in houston, the rainy season starts in mid-late feb and rains basically daily until may when it starts to dry out a bit and we only get the daily 10 min shower about 5pm.
