I bought 2002 maxima! *56k*
so yea... after a bunch of pondering... i finally bought the maxima...
a silver 6sp SE maxima... drove it home... very nice power... didnt need to downshift out of 6th for anything... i had no freakin idea how to put the car in reverse... i started freaking out... thought that reverse gear was missing... it almost came to a point where i was gonna step outside and push the car backwards..... but i made it by a couple inches.... i read the manual when i got home n figured it out.
its a 118,000 miles $8600 OTD after tag, title ,tax i think i made an ok deal on it...
did notice a few issues on the way to driving it... seems like minor stuff except for 2... was wondering if you guys wanted to take a pic at it.
1) At night on the AC controls around 3-4 buttons didnt have a backlight... while the others did
2) The backlight on the speado is pretty dim and faded... even at full brightness
3) shifting into 4th and 5th... were a bit harsh... i could feel heavier clunks.. although the stick wasnt shaking... car didnt act weird... just the feedback to my hand
4) when im turning at a semi decent speed 30mph plus... i hear a tiny squeel comming from the front

I don't think we need a new thread every time someone buys a Maxima, we all know what a stock Maxima looks like.

To the OP, very very nice looking max, you are going to love it. You don't meet many max owners that aren't happy.

I don't think the emphasis here is on the pictures of his car; Instead, I believe he is stating that he is very happy with his new purchase and he had some inquiries about the small issues that he had noticed on his drive home. The pictures are just a bonus for us while we try to help answer his questions about the issues.

Nice purchase that sounds like a great deal, your car is the exact twin of mine! Does it have the Meridian Package (heated steering wheel, seats)? 4th to 5th is a bit clunky I agree, the shifter itself is pretty clunky and takes some getting used to but it still shifts nice I think. As for the backlight on the gauges, I've noticed they just aren't very bright ever I just think that's the way they are.

This site is semi-hard to search for something as specific as the problems as he is having.. It is not as easy as typing "Intake" or "Exhaust", you know what I mean?

nice man, same car as me but i got charcoal interior. as for the dim gauges, its normal. the backlighting on it sucks. the squeel i'm not sure about, but maybe your shocks? cuz that was what my friend's benze did and it was shocks that were the problem.
good luck with the car!

To the OP, nice ride and welcome to the org!

In which case, I would simply ask in the noobie thread, for free. I would save even more money.

I have zero problem donating $20 to a web page that has literally saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Between vendor discounts for the Org and the money I have saved from having to go to the dealer/shops to do things this web page more than warrants the donation.
