I have zero problem donating $20 to a web page that has literally saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Between vendor discounts for the Org and the money I have saved from having to go to the dealer/shops to do things this web page more than warrants the donation.
If I was in a situation where the org saved me money, I would pay my respect. I am only here for the browsing fun, in which case I will save my money.

Then don't complain about the search function if you don't really use the Org.

I would never complain about it. Just stating that I have enough understanding to know why others may have trouble. Let's no longer jack this guys' thread. It is his glory moment!!

His and mine are indeed hard to find- tan leather/6spd/silver paint+ mine has the chrome wheels... I can't even find that combo anywhere on cars.com. I was looking for pictures of what mine looked like to show someone because it's in the shop getting the 6spd rebuilt...couldn't find any.

I'd suggest changing the tranny fluid. (Redline MT-90 is my choice). That may help the shifting.

Nice looking car! I hope the tranny doesn't wind up giving you problems (since you're having shifting issues).

Wait so you've been a member for 5+ years and the org hasn't saved you $20?

I'm calling on that one, you're just cheap and/or selfish.

And to the whole... 20$ donation debate...

i dont mind paying it... but i find it really rediculous... i might be jumping to conclusions though...

im a part of a dozen forums... all big ones like this... with thousands of members... and none of them have a donation requirement... for the reason of "it costs alot to maintain the search function so we are gonna charge" is a bit crazy...

i mean... having a donation option for anyone that wants to donate is completly fine... but almost forcing them to is something else...

im only saying this cause this is the first forum that iv been on that does this thing.... if everyone else did it... i could understand

i mean you guys have a decent amount of advertisement ... should that cover most of the costs?

and also... i dont have any proof... but i heard through the grapevine... that org mods or admins.... Banned a few paying members?... cause they didnt follow a rule or something.... someone that i know told me... that he got banned a month after he payed his 20.... no refunds.

If he got perma banned, he had it coming...

The Mods and Admins don't perma ban for little crap and they hand out plenty of warnings.

As for the donation, they offer AND link you to the free google search… If you want an upgraded and more utilitarian search, then you need to donate to use it since it’s expensive to run and if it was offered for free… It would be taxed even harder.

Plus, you have access to the Off Topic forum if you donate. Honestly, they had to kinda force people to donate for one big reason… This IS a very cheap, nickel and dime forum. Very few people on this forum pay it forward on their own free will.

yea... i guess he did do something pretty stupid...

---

but how is this a very cheap nickle and dime forum?

isnt this supposed to be one of the best maxima forums out there?... there is a ALOT of information here... alot of people viewing.... companies should be begging you guys for a spot to do advertisement

you should join http://s0ber.net/southfloridamaximas/

you may already know about it, but its a southern florida group. there are maxima meets like twice a month, mostly in miami and surrounding areas. i havent been a member that long but its a great place to meet educated people who know wtf they are talking about. i would blindly trust any one of them over a so-called "mechanic" you would find at midas.
