The main part of the HDR is in the sky, the cars dont have a lot of shadows that HDR would take advantage of.

Please correct me if im wrong.

Nice pics and cars though!

It's the most apparent in the 2nd shot. That one is the most obvious HDR of the batch. Pics look good, as do the cars. What'd you shoot with?

HDR: Multpile shots at variation of exposures to capture a wide range of colors, lights and shadows...Shot with a point and shoot kodak, tripod. ISO 100, 2.8-3.2 fstop...Not to mention to actually see all 32bits of HDR, your , monitor would cost as much as a lotus.

Thanks guys for the props.

Haha I know how to shoot HDR. It looks good for a point and shoot. Can you adjust the shutter speed on it? That's how I do HDR's on my new Nikon. Either way pics look great, and your max looks clean too.

Pictures look great! Silmax00, are your fogs HID? Reminds me I need to get HID for my projector fog lights, the halogen bulbs suck.

that's one of the worst examples or attempts at HDR I've ever seen. Blown highlights, unimpressive tonal range, subject is underexposed.

Everyone would be better served hopping off the HDR bandwagon, HDR is a fancy way of saying my camera's sensor performance is subpar.

Also the white balance is off in the last picture.

Tell that to CS3...I just take them and edit them, I dont merge them and compress them to 8bits...

And the 1D markII's camera sensor cant touch the capabilities of an HDR image. And its, oh, what, 6 grand? You can shoot HDR with whatever camera you want, thats why its called High Dynamic Range...it captures an insane ammount of tonal ranges over a standard picture. Thanks for the input...

Oh, and I left the 5D at home, I didnt feel like lugging it out there.

1. Those pictures do not have high dynamic range, they don't even have good contrast. YOUR HIGHLIGHTS ARE BLOWN.
2. The 1D Mark-II is out dated, and can be had for under $4500 new.
3. HDR shows the limitations of your cameras sensor, that's not a good thing. Focus more on lighting, less on gimmicks.

Thanks for the lovely support...Its lind of hard to tell the sun what to do, but if you know how, by all means, please share. Atleast I know how to use HDR and a camera...Not to mention, the point of HDR is to avoid sharp contrast and capture all ranges of light and color.

Well the sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and is pretty consistent in doing so. I would recommend buying or making some reflectors (although since the sun is past the tree line you'll probably want to step up to strobes).

As for the second part could you explain the lack of shadow detail, blown highlights, and improper color balance? I think you are confusing "sharp contrast" with limited tonal range.

It's fun to experiment and all but HDR really shouldn't be looked upon as the latest and greatest thing, it's a bandaid.

Lack of shadow detail and 'blown' highlights..I made them that way. Here is an unedited picture:

EV -2,-1,0,1,2

Look man, Im not tryin to be a d!ck or anything, but its not cool you just come in here baggin, tellin me I have no clue what Im doing. Ive taken 4 years of photography classes, and have plenty of experience and knowledge from pinholes, darkroom and cross processing. Sure, my camera isnt great, but atleast I did it RIGHT...HDR is a nice way to take the best parts of each exposure and put them together, make the shadows brighter and highlights darker. Like dodging and burning in the darkroom...just a lot easier and less paper wasting.
