Cheap Craigslist Find

I was on Craigslist a week or two back and came across this:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300735.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300726.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300729.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300728.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300717.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300718.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300724.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300723.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...G/S6300737.jpg

The guy said when the car gets up to 3000 RPM it shuts off.
After driving the car 70 miles home and running out a tank of gas it has yet to shut off on me. I do get a hissing sound when I apply the gas pedal.(possible vacuum line or exhaust leak)?
I'm looking to get some nice performance out of it, but I don't know much about modding so any ideas are appreciated.
In the meantime, what should I put on my to do list for this weekend to get this thing everyday road worthy? I may want to take it over to R.I. for the Rekless Racing Meet this Sunday.

P.S.
If anyone has anything I'm missing in these pics PM me.

first thing find out where that hissing sound is coming from, if it is a vacuum line or exhaust leak it will effect the performance of the car if you plan to race it whenever. A vacuum leak would cause the car to stall at certain time.

I will take a look at the vacuum lines and the exhaust this weekend. The exhaust seems to be fairly new tho.(I mean it's not all rusted out) I will post more pics this weekend. It had been sitting since November according to the previous owner. I was saying the same thing about the interior.

I got for $700. I could've talked him down but I was in rush so I looked it over, drove it, and paid the man.
I need to get a new suspension set up. I want to drop it about an inch. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should go with?

$700 ain't bad, yea I would've bought that, it needs about 300-500 worth of work and it would be in pretty good shape.

yeah i was looking at that, what is up with that i thought he got a two for one deal. Buy the two cars and make one out of it, but not a bad price for the car.

The hinge on my 96 started to bend so I took it off. And the 97 didn't have one when I got it. I just add those the list of parts needed.
I should've talked him down a bit due to the interior. But it is what it is.
At the end of the day I think I came off with it.

That car isn't bad at all, just cosmetic stuff. Seriously one good paycheck will take care of everything for that car.
