My max and my "new" 1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

Had to get the car out of storage today to move back home, the elderly lady who's unused garage it was stored in has passed away, so I have to find another place to keep it now that it's mine. Decided to snap a few pics while I had it home, because I've never taken any pics of it before. This car was my father's Aunt Margie's, became my father's, and now that he wants to get rid of it I'm staking claim on it. It needs work which is one of the main reasons he wants to get rid of it (in addition to not wanting to spend the money to store it every year). The car gets driven probably 40-60 miles per year, and has 46,000 original on it.

It's got the original 472 cubic inch big block in it, which makes 375hp and 525lb-ft of torque, gross (it'd be way less in today's SAE ratings, but that's how cars were rated back then). According to what I've been able to find, it weighs about 4600lbs.

I love this car, so glad it's going to be mine now.

That's my maxima in the picture with it here.

Just from looking at it, it looks to be in good condition. What kind of work does it need? Oh, nice Max btw

What a beauty!! Gotta love the old caddy's......

What work does it need? From the outside, it looks mint!

What's it worth in its present condition?

The suspension is worn out on it, bushings are all worn, needs brake work. There was a little body work (rust repair) done on it 10-15 years ago or more than needs to be redone on one of the rear fenders (some slight bubbling you can see when you get close up and know where to look, it's kindof underneath and you have to bend down or get on your knees to see it). AC compressor broke and my dad couldn't find another for it, I'll have to see what I can find for it.

Fix it up, and like they say....THROW SUM D'S ON DAT B****! lol nah, just keep it clean. Though it would look nice with something other than hubcaps, but the more original you keep it the better I guess.

HOLY MF S**T! you are the luckiest dude on the face of the planet! well, almost...

my dream car build (not necessarily the same as a dream car) is a '70 coupe deville convertible. sea foam green with white interior, bagged, stock floor body dropped, narrow rear end, tubbed, 22" asanti signature rims, and a 502 ram jet (been working on this one for some years... in my head).

you sir, are a very lucky man.

No but seriously what a find! The thing looks mint from the exterior. I wouldnt even bother modding it, just fix what needs to be done and keep it to its original style. Quite the antique car to stumble upon.

My plans for it right now are simply get the suspension and brake work done, and fix that rust spot.

I don't want to stray too far from original with it.

Indeed, that car definitely looks perfect to be taking to classic car shows and the like. After you get the necessities taken care of, you should look into full restoration and beautification; whistle clean engine bay, an interior that looks like it's never been sat in, and so on. Personally, if you're not going to stray that far from OEM, try to get some wheels. Seriously. One thing that makes me go is to see a nice classic modernized with some tasteful rims.

That thing looks brand new! That's really low mileage too. It's definitely worth keeping around. It's good that you're keeping it in the family too. You can continue passing it down the generations as a family heirloom.

Man Neal, I'm not sure which one I would rather have. Both beautiful cars. The max looks like a micro machine next to that monster. Definitely one of those cars you should maintain as stock looking as possible...

The rear needs to be dropped a bit.

But seriously I would probably throw some 16-18" rims on it.
