Custom Valentine V1 Install

As per requested by 01_Maxine here are some pics of my custom Valentine V1 Radar install. It is hardwired and the remote display is mounted in place of the clock.

Here is where the radar detector is mounted. This is how it looks on startup

Here is what it looks like when it is on.

Here is where the remote display is mounted.

Here is where the mute button is located.

And a little teaser of the new exhaust.

Beautifully done. How do you think the effectiveness is reduced by the tint at the top of your front window? I read a few articles awhile back that gave a significant reduction in performance by mounting a detector that high.

I know the best place is right in the middle, yes obtrusive and if you want too far down you have windshield wipers. I've always wanted to do a custom job by encasing the detector, waterproofing a case around it leaving just the sensors exposed and mounting it on the roof, similar to an XM radio receiver for A) Best reception and B) Stealth look (no obstruction inside), I just don't know how the sensors would hold up to the elements.

But yeah, nice job! (Jealous for sure ^^)

Thanks for the compliments guys. These are all the pictures i have for now. I might write a DIY if you guys are interested. I plan to put a piece of plexi in front of the remote display because the tint is not working too well. As for the performance with mounting it that high. I don't see too big of a difference. I still get plenty warning with it where it is mounted. i thought about doing what you were speaking of, but i wanted to put the sensors on the inside of the car. I just came to the conclusion that it would be too much work. It's plenty effective the way it is now and I'm pretty happy with it.

nice job, looks like what I did. I gutted out the clock also but left the face of the clock assembly still attached...not sure if that was what you did or not.

looks pretty low key when it's on.

^ That is exactly what I did. I used tint over the face though. I need to go to Tap Plastics and get a piece of plexi to replace the tint with.

Thanks! I love the radar. You have no idea how many times it has saved me. Well worth the money. The only time it isn't effective is when the cop is using instant-on or Laser.

Looks good. I have my V1 on a visor mount, and have the display right under my headunit in my dash kit. I want to relocate the display to the clock. How hard was it to run the wire to the display from there?

The wiring was the easiest. Just run it from the fuse box in the kick panel, then under the dash then UP to the clock.

The hardest part was gutting out the click and stuffing it in there. It's a tight fit but it'll work.
