now you will see the reason i had to use 80 grit w/ the wheel rash problems. i started bondoing all the wheels...i have to sand down the other 3 wheels that i bondo'd this week...hopefully i can start primering before this week is out

pics of wheel rash:

trying to figure my route...

purple (the purple i'd hopefully end up w/ would be darker than this)

or white (dont know where ima get white thats close to the pearl i have on the car...i dont want to pay to have them 'professionally' painted

i do have ceramic pads, so i'm not concerned about brake dust so much w/ the white wheels

Ouch. Yeah I can see the need for 80 grit.

And no, wanted the specs on the other rims you are selling. I know the G specs.

As for the paint, you know my thoughts. I won't say anything about the purple. I think you'd have to go pretty crazy with the rest of the car to make that work. But do you

LULZ @ Jeffafafafafafa i bet if i did them black and yellow you'd try to rape me......

@Tuner...yea...i'm trying to figure what i'm going to do w/ the lug nuts...i'm going to pick up the rear lip this weekend, have those painted...so i think if i did the purp..it'd be dope...oh, the car is going back down on slam when i put the wheels on, eff what you heard LOL

i'm just going to make a run at the track at the height im at, after i see my times, i'm throwing it back to the ground and saying 'eff jew' to the axles

alright...so i finished sanding down the bondo (@80 grit) on all four wheels yesterday...i only spent about an hour doing so, as i was/am dead tired...next is going at them at 120, 240 then 400 then fillable primer. i'm hoping to have the 240 grit done thursday....i wont be doing any work on them this wednesday

^^^^the one w/ the most bondo/most work/worse wheel i will forever had that specific wheel

I hope you got those rims pretty dam cheap to compensate for all that work!

Good job so far man they should look good. I've honestly never heard of putting bondo on wheels to fix rash, does it actually stay on?

So...i searched on craigslist as i always do...and i see a posting (5 hours away from where i live) for some G wheels for $250...i look at the pics and im like JEEZ!!! those are bad...ima shoot him an offer for $100, even though he's not going to accep....HE ACCEPTED!!! and i took my happy self up there and got em LOLOL

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-included.html

here's the link that gave me the info i needed to know to restore the wheels. but i hit up this girl that does paint on pretty much anything paintable and she told me especially w/ the 80 grit, since i went so aggressive, it'd be a perfect time to throw bondo on the wheels because it will stick even better. so i followed/following her advice...i still have her text to gaze over to make sure i'm doing it right...everything is coming along pretty good...there is some putty type stuff that came in the bondo box that basically if there are any holes, etc in teh bondo, its like a quick fix type thing. so i'm sure i'll be cruising from here on out.

oh, yea and i did get the tires for $100 too LULZ

since you're looking for a budget type of wheel finish, I think you should just polish them yourself. That way you don't have to worry about paying someone to paint them or using cheap *** spray paint to do yourself which will chip easily. Polished would look sexy and be cheap, but would involve a lot of labor on your part, but it would be cheap!

True didn't think about that, I don't do much body work as you can tell as I stick to mechanical work on my car!

I guess if paint is the only option....then barney is the way to go, candy barney of course!

i cant see doing polished after all the work i've already done on this wheel..if i didnt bondo it...it'd take alot of sanding to get those gashes out...not/wouldnt ever do that. i picked up the Krylon purple paint this weekend. i'm going to sand the wheels to the last two/three grits necessary, then take the two to the guy to take the minor bends out then primer and paint

Well on the bright side, if it looks terrible , you can always just sand it down again and repaint it

I would have them powdercoated once you are certain on the colour. Spray paint will never look as good as a powder coat job.

meh, like i said, i cant see spending that sort of money on a set of OEM wheels. only reason i'm painting is because of them being gashed up, if they were OEM color, i'd never had touched em. i love the stock color these G wheels come in.

if im spending money on wheels again, i'm just buying a new set. but probably not now...kinda looking at a small house to get started in and hopefully a few years down teh road turn it into a rental spot

small progress...the two wheels w/ minor bends are at the metal shop getting rounded. i'm battling replacing the VC gasket (UIM is a 100% female dog to remove), only to find out there is no leak back there *pissed*!! will also work on replacing/fixing my a/c compressor. then hopefully next week will be time to sand down and prime the wheels, then get the tires installed and lay down the purple.

oh...i did this too

SN: i'm not doing the NWP spacers, at least not now

first find out what clutch you suppose to use 4/5th or 5.5 gen clutch...then when you find that out, go/call up competition clutch go cop their stage 1 (they have an OEM spec clutch as well for dumb cheap) and if you still have enough money, get their flywheel, you wont be upset, believe me

Mods:
Warpspeed Y-Pipe
22" Cherry Bomb Resonator
2.5" Piping
Cattman Axleback
Ralco STS
Competition Clutch Stage 1
Competition Clutch LWFW
Stock Airbox

Tire Pressure @ 27 PSI

R/T - .774
60' - 2.330
330 - 6.405
1/8 - 9.728
MPH - 73.96
1/4 - 14.978
MPH - 93.12

^best and first time that i ran...my last run that i did i missed 4th gear (my last two runs i missed 4th gear, but here was my last time)

Tire Pressure @ 24 PSI

R/T - 1.265
60' - 2.259
330 - 6.331
1/8 - 9.658
MPH - 73.87
1/4 - 14.996
MPH - 89.27

pissed me off because my launch got f'd up on that one because i need to tweek my throttle cable some more, when i took my foot off the gas it remained revved for a second and when it came down thats when the green light hit, so i just peeled out and hoped for the best then on top of that i missed 4th gear

so i'm betting as i sit, on an absolute perfect run i can run a real high 14.7, but i know i can ace a 14.8. ill go back w/ a little more done next time

oh yea...i removed the seats, spare tire, and spare tire cover. but had 3/4 tank of gas
