I think you would be surprised on what is considered "Rice".

No offense to anyone with Red Calipers, but the Honda Civic crew definitely ruined the "Red" caliper thing.

newbie question - what is 'rice'? In a couple of posts 'rice' might be a good thing, but in most it looks like a bad thing.

Welcome man, Memphis is only about an 1 1/2 from where I live. Anyways rice is a subjective term, generally meant towards people who make their car something it is not. Like these caliper covers. Or putting stupid stickers all over your car, or huge wings on front wheel drive cars. The list can go on and on but in the end it is everyones own opinion on what is rice and what isn't.

"rice" is like those honda civics with bodykits, spoilers, fake racing stickers and obnoxious mufflers sticking out the back. FYI rice in NEVER a good thing.

I would go with a hammertone bronze. It would stand out but not be too flashy unless you want flashy then def go with red

I thought about doing a very dark maroon/burgundy for the calipers, but decided against it and went with black. IMO Caliper's don't need to stand out with some bright color; they serve a purpose... Letting people know you take care of them and keep them in shape is enough for me, so if they take the time to notice my squeaky clean black painted caliper's, than good.

I agree with everyone else, red is pretty played out..... even more so on tiny calipers.
I made that mistake long ago, these are them now,...

Are there any other manufacturers that paint calipers red? I guess I never understood the point of painting calipers if they weren't already painted.

personally i wouldn't paint stock calipers anything other than silver or black (silver on a white car). stockers are so tiny that i can't imagine wanting to bring attention to them. for z32 or other upgrades would add red and gold/bronze into the list. nothing against any of the other colors but they just don't do anything for me (with the possible exception of a color themed car).

and just for the record, there's no such thing as a ricey color. there may be a color frequently seen on ricey cars or one could even make the argument that painting calipers is ricey in it's self (not saying it's true) but to say that red is ricier than any other color is stupid.

Im not going to say its ricey, but it is played out on normal cars, and the reason i say this is because every one wants to mimmick the big brakes of the true sports cars but when everyone paints their stock calipers a bright red it just looks BAD. Just as you stated, why bring attention to a stock brake setup.

i concur. i would definitely consider it overdone but only because of the frequent improper use. red upgraded/aftermarket brakes are still hot to me.

however, one reason i think that red works better than most other bright colors is because of tailights. it's already a color in the scheme 99% of the time.
