Flat piece is part of Cattman's design since the loop hangs a little lower than he/we liked. It's for protection. A skid plate so to speak.

The piece of copper is a homemade heatsink to protect the somewhat fragile wideband O2 sensor from the hot exhaust.

Polydyn (polymer dynamics) is gonna do this Header/Y-pipe...unlike "The Wizard" with only his shorty headers done. I'm gonna have the entire setup coated 3000 degree F. Titanium. It'll probably cost me $200-250. But oh well, I'm reducing the underhood temps, increasing heat retention in the exhaust system (higher Velocity), and trying not to melt all that plastic **** that's close by....
Also Wizard I elected to place my wideband somewhere less congested 180 degrees opposite of you, I'll need no heat shield to protect my sensor, I've got plenty of cool air flow there. I'll post pics once I recieve the package from Polydyn and I'll show you guys what gaskets I chose over the Cattman supplied stuff that wasn't heavy duty enough for my personal taste.

I paid close to $350 for my HPC extreme coating (inside and out), so I figured I'd do it in stages. Headers are the most important as I have an aftercooler sitting right above the front header.

Your car idles doesn't it after a boosted run??? A heatsink is never a bad thing to protect an expensive wideband O2. Also, the instructions say the sensor should be between 3oclock and 9 oclock, with 3 and 9 being the minimum. I elected to do better than the minimum. And, I don't have to worry about crap hitting it. I strategically chose that location for a reason for those who are wondering.

Regardless, looks like you have a solid plan of attack.

OP, I wouldn't have the patience to get those coated. I would want to put them on as soon as I got them from Cattman haha. I have this setup and I love it and you will too. Everyone compliments the sound too

Yeah, Wizard I read the instruction with the Innovate wideband and you're correct, but I choice maybe about a 2:30 clock angle so it's upward and seems the clear any dogs, cats or children that don't get the hell out the way. I like how you did the heat shield I just didn't want mine near that steel donut from the rear blank. Yours maybe more permanent than mine since you are a forced induction car and you monitor yours on a regular basis. I'm just using for tuning and it'll be installed and removed more than likely, the same day, as well as switched between my cars and projects.
Oh yeah I see you filled in that pipe to flange void (on the interior ) as well with some welds. I didn't want to disturb my exhaust velocity with turbulence. Can't wait to see the finished product. As for the oil draining issue I'm make a special drain tool for that...no biggie!

For those interested in ceramic coating, PolyDyn just gave me the quotes on the CM Headers. They quoted $220 for the Shorty headers and $150 for the y-pipe...

Don't know! First of all never owned any Hotshot to compare it too, and I just got my Cattman's back from being ceramic coated entirely!

IMO, no. Equal length and mandrel bent=win.

Even if you lose a little, equal length sound = win!
