My Other Project Car.... 56k Watch Out

Here we have a beautiful 1968 Ford Mustang. This was my dads second car, he drove it for quite awhile, and then for some reason just stopped. I have been told why but i forget.

Sadly, the car sat outside for too long and led to its current condition. Needs some body work, stripped down to the metal IMO and a good paint job, and re-chrome the parts that need it (pretty much all the chrome).

The engine is deffinatly the largest available for the '68 an In-Line Six 3.3 Liter 200cid 120 American Horse Power, 3-Speed beast! I wish i had the 428, but oh well. Anyway, the engine is really in good condition with approx 100k miles, but old fuel has gumed up the carb and the fuel pump may have dried out, so, it will run on the fuel i poor down the carb myself, but cant self sustain just yet. Ill be fixing that tonight. After that all it needs to be driveable is a new clutch, its pretty much wasted, the poor thing.

So after all that, here are some pictures. Please, comment and tell me what you feel i should do, keep it stock, or really beef it up? Im open to any and all suggestions.

beautiful car!! the inside looks to be in pretty good shape. you have a lot of work ahead of you for shizzle. i'm not to big on the chrome look but these mustangs can def. be the eye catcher if restored properly. i wish you the best of luck in your future project. keep us updated!

Thanks for the response guys!

Teaner:
I am planning on simply (haha, simply) restoring it as it was in '68, although, i will be adding an oem A/C, and most likely a modern sound system.

JNCoRacer: Im extremly excited

I know man! I had it clean literally not one month ago. And then the family decides, oh wow there is room in here, we can put more crap out here! Pisses me off. Spend 8 hours clearing the thing out so i have room to work, and now its like that again.

cars like these should only be kept stock looking. So clean when they are restored right.

condition annd trim mandates "beefing up" imo. numbers matching is a collector thing and i don't see that kind of value here. have fun.

I would agree that they can be CLEAN! There are a few '66-'68 models out and about around here, and i always think, i wish mine looked like that. lol

A little beefing up could be nice, ill look into some options definatly. Numbers matching would not really be a collectors, or value thing for me. I just think it would be cool to keep the engine and body together, kinda like an old father-son thing. But, i would definatly consider doing a swap and keeping the old straight-6. We shall see. I am truly excited.
