95 Revive! Story and Build Inside!

Hey everyone! I am a long time Maxima fan! When I was a kid my Uncle bought a 82 Maxima SE and I remember thinking it was the fastest thing ever. I guess then it is more like a childhood crush. The 4th gen has been my favorite but I never got around to getting one beacuse I got stuck in the Honda and then drag racing phases.

Well I obtained this one recently by trading a Civic Hatchback shell I had.
She needs serious love! It currently has cut springs in front, and God knows what in rear, but it has new KYBs all around. Stillen front lip which was flaking blue when I got it. It was\is multi colored. It has an aftermarket muffler, dont know what it is but its quiet and sounds good. Interior was decent, with the exception of some broken trims and really bad tint! The wheels are 350z stagged 5 spokes but need to be refinished. Rear brakes were metal to metal and needed a right caliper. Oh and an oil leak from somewhere by the oil filter.

Its a mess but nothing some elbow grease cant fix. I have replaced the rear brake pads, rotors, and caliper (painted black). Cleaned all the door jams of what must have been 10 years of gunk. Painted the lip to match the rest of my black front end. Removed the tint, replaced the AC compressor, applied rubberized under coating to wheel wells and undercarriage, and made some custom interior parts (i will get pics of that later). There must be much more but thats what I can remember right now.

I plan on getting new springs, roof rack for my bikes, refinish wheels, fix oil leak, complete the system, and then paint (still debating on keeping it white or painting it something dark).

Well here are the pics that I have I will be uploading and updating as project "95 Revive" progresses. Enjoy and all comments are welcome.

Sorry for the crappy pics and they are all at night so far.

This is just a few hours after getting it, I just washed it. Look at it NOT shine!

I didn't do a good job keeping up with photos for a week so there is a gap but the following are after cleaning, and under coating, and some other odd end things.

OK so there its is for now. I will be posting pics of the interior work as soon I get it together. Thanks for looking!

Interior teaser. Color looks bad with night time camera flash, it looks red when its a rust orange suede.

Well, I'd say you're doing good by what you listen. Once its all in one color is should be a lot nicer. I doesnt look bad at all. Not feeling the interior color scheme for the doors

I don't even see any pictures.

So are you asking for help, or just trying to show off your car? If the latter, why did you not post in the correct subforum? http://forums.maxima.org/members-rides-65/

Yea I was lookin for Material forever and didn't know what to get, I didn't want the typical leather for fear that it would look like a "wannabe GLE" and I orginally was going with a pattern one but the cotton just looked cheap. So I went with this, I'm still out on how I feel about it I will get the better day pics up soon which I think do the color justice (from a Cannon SLP), this camera did something wierd to the color. It also looks off b\c of the lovely Nissan grey carpet and seats. I plan on getting black 350z seats in front and 02 Maxima black in rear.

It has 176k but the motor was swapped with one that had 72k, I have the reciepts and it runs well. Orginal transmission tho, but I think that these 5spds hold up well.

the front bumper is from a 97-99 max. so there is that gap in your grill. change the grill out to the newer one, along with the clear plastic headlights, or just get the one peice r34s black headlights.

I know, I am stocking up on a bunch of parts, I plan on getting the car painted so I will be waiting to put the grill and the new mirrors on till paint day.

As far as the headlights are concerned are you saying that the 95-96 ones are different then the 97+'s? I was thinking about doing the headlight but the factory ones are nice glass ones and I'd hate to get some plasic ones, much less some clear housing, black inners, ricey looking things.

since u said revive, check the front radiator support for rust, im sure if its been anywhere near the coast or up north it has rusted, either cut out the bad portion and weld in some new steel or replace the whole support, either way it will be good preventative car might driver better too.

Thanks for the support! I have a new front grille, rubbers for under lights, wheel well liners, and some other parts to improve front end. I ordered springs, HIDs, and a coolant temp sensor today. I am just stocking up on everything and will just put together in one shot once I get her back from paint. It might be a while for paint I am just waiting on my buddy to finish up some other cars then the body work will start. This will include realigning front end, installing parts, body work (repairing the quarter, shaving trunk key hole, etc), and then paint!

My friend that owns a local custom paint and body shop and I went over everything and there isn't rust anywhere on the car. It was sold new at a local dealer and I am the third owner. All its life its lived about 15 miles west of the coast. I got lucky!

I did get it with the rims but they are all scratched up and look like hell! I am actually waiting on two of them to dry now and will be painting the other two tomorrow. I went with a basic silver, didn't want to paint it some ricer color. I'll post the pics once it's all done!

I have replaced the grill with a 97+, the pics above are how I bought the car. I am waiting on getting my tail lights and 97+ trunk installed (cant find free time) before I post new updates. Thanks for the interest ... keep watching, when I am done this car will be completely reworked and look great!
