New 5.5Gen Maxima (2002)
So here it is, I found the Maxima I've been looking for. It is a 6 speed manual transmission 3.5Liter Maxima. Car seems pretty sound so far, just have one question that I think my dad already gave me the solution for. The car seems to have a slight delay from when I put my foot to the pedal to when I feel the power. It came with a Stillen cone filter (as shown in a picture below). My dad said it could be that the car's MAF is unable to determine between hot and cold air which is causing the delay.
In which case, I would like to replace that air filter with a stock one, so if anyone has any extras lying around that they would like to sell please send me a pm.
Also, apologies in advance for the blurry pictures. My phone can only do so much

Mine just needed the reflash since I have an '03 and that took care of it. Yours may also need a new MAF since yours in an '02.

They're pretty cheap. I wouldn't make a project out of it. Assuming the pop-charger is really as dirty as it looks in your picture, just pick one up at Advanced Auto and move on.

111k miles, future mods won't be planned out until I repair little things here and there on the car. I do however have a set of gunmetal colored motegi trak_lite rims from my 1992 maxima that I intend to put on with new tires once the current tires are worn down. Though with as much torque as this car has, I almost think putting lighter rims on it would be a bad thing

As for the stock airbox, I don't think you want my dirty old cone filter but I will pay you for the airbox assembly if you are willing to sell it

My 92 had several unfortunate accidents and at the time I couldn't afford to keep a car around due to other things going on in my life. I ended up scrapping it and getting what I could for it. That car was one of my favorites, it had a 5 speed manual with the DOHC engine. It too was a rare car for it's time. I some how keep getting lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it XD

Very nice pick-up and as pointed out the air filter looks really dirty, you can pick up the AEM filter cleaner kit for about 15.00 bucks which gets you 2 bottles of cleaning solution enough to clean 3- times just follow the instruction take care not to let the dirty water wash over the opening into the filter and make sure the filter is well dried before reinstalling. If your in a hurry you can use a hair dryer to dry things up.

The delay you may be feeling might be the delay that comes with the drive by wire throttle. Mine has a split second delay when i floor it and when the throttle opens. I have experienced this in just about every car i drive with drive by wire system. Pretty sure its normal.... Very nice find BTW. Looks just like mine except for the OEM Navi.

So lets say I stay with the cone filter and just buy a new one, someone I know locally said I should extend it out further so it isn't so close to the MAF. Do you guys think it would make a difference if I did that?

Or you could just buy the mid-pipe all by itself and get the couplings at the hardware store. Knight_yyz has a few mid-pipes for sale:

well I actually have to get new tires sooner than I thought so I will be putting on different rims (gunmetal motegi trak lites at 15 or 16lb a piece). I will eventually do some things like sway bars and stiffening up the suspension but for now I need to get all the maintenance out of the way. It needs a new battery and brakes as well. Regardless it is still way too much fun to drive

With all the people flinging out their stock setup for those "things" they like to stick on to the intake, you would think somebody had one laying around. The drive by wire has a latency between the pedal and throttle body. I feel you on the 92 SE...just found a super sweet shell (body) to transfer my VE into.
