New Ride: Black 5th Gen SE (pics)

get tired of VW and after a 2000 jetta 2.slow and a 2001 jetta VR6 and a 2003 gti (the 3 of them in 1 year) sold my 08 jetta and get another max, now a 5th gen SE with 88,000, came with 16" from SE and found some 17" 5.5th rims for cheap, and just put AE headlights, tint windows, 5000k for headlights and 4300k for fogs, and spend 3 days detailing it. before and after pics.

And after, tint and rims.

Before detail.

After detail.

5000k and 4300k on fogs.

Def needs a drop. Eibach's would work great and shouldn't hinder you from driving anywhere. Otherwise looks great! Love the AE lights

Black out that window trim. Especially because you have a black car and tint, it will look ten times better. That is one hella clean car though.

I hear that u blackout ur window trim, do u have any pics cuz i want to do it but no so sure, cuz when i use to have the mk5 jetta it was the base model, so no chrome window trim, and i end up getting the window trim to make it look like a loaded model, lol, and now that i have the window trim i want to remove it, mmm.. weird.

I blacked mine out about 3 weeks ago. I'm really happy with the results, all black just looks so much better as opposed to black with cheap-looking plastic chrome pieces. It took a long time but it wasn't hard. I made a point to take my time and neatly layer on the curves and trim the excess. I used the black tape to do the door handles as well. I don't have any pictures of the whole thing but I can get some and post them up tomorrow. Here's a bit of a teaser that I posted in a different thread for decals:

As promised, here's a full picture of the car with the blacked out trim so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Please excuse the poor quality, I took it with my cell phone because I didn't have my camera handy. Hope this helps OP.

Thanks, it really gives a nice look to a black Maxima. The rims are the stockers that came with the 5.5 gen GLE models. I like them but I can't stand the tires. 215/55/17 that came with the car when I bought it. I hate them, not wide enough and way too much sidewall. Hopefully they'll wear out sooner rather than later so I can get a set of 225/50's or 225/45's.
