I know...First I plan to move the IC up a bit with the brackets I made. Secondly I'm adding the TBO lip which will hide the rest.

Your shifter just made me buy a new 300zx shifter (z32 one with black and tan stitching to match the rest of my interior)

The car is actually going to get repainted. I've done a lot paint correction to bring out how it looks but honestly its a cheap one stage paint from someone in the past (shhh, don't tell ) Its one of those things where you can't really understand unless you see it in person.

And maybe so. It's not a Maxima so I didn't know if I was allowed to post it there or not.

You have given up on flush fitment already. You'd have a better contact patch and less DR-typical sidewall mush on an 8.5J wheel.

I dig the car other than that though.

I'm not going for the "stance" type "flush". And I won't argue the TT wheels would be better suited for a larger tire and more contact patch. However, I purchased the MT Streets DR's with the NA wheels as is. If I run across a good deal on TT rears sometime I may ****** them up, but for now it isn't a priority.

great looking Z. I was just next to a nice z31 in traffic today and thinking about how much I like them.

Kind of late bump to this but your Z is really nice. I've never really historically been a fan of the way those look but yours looks great.

Slightly onto a tangent - but out of curiosity, was it hard to come across a dash for that in good condition? It seems to me all those 80's sports car dashes were basically the same thing. A huge block of brittle plastic with faux stitching all over the thing. In fact, the dash looks VERY similar to the dash in our LS1 project '85 RX7. I'm amazed how brittle the dash in that is and was curious about the 80's Z dashes.

Did you by any chance buy that shell up in the Dallas area?

Ahhh, I want to make one of these an autocross ***** in one of my fantasies, this is one of the best looking ones I've seen, I usually see them all beat up and old looking, I really like how clean your interior is!!! I'm so putting my car back together asap lol.

Regarding the dash, I had to hunt one down at the local salvage yard over time. Eventually a nice black one showed up and I swapped it out with mine which was entirely ripped off from the previous owner. The actual material is a rubbery vinyl that has some give if you apply pressure. I wouldn't describe it as a brittle plastic at all.

The shell I purchased here in San Antonio, however the car has been in Dallas a couple times in the past and I have several Z friends/contacts in that area. And the '86+ Z31's had front and rear fender flares stock when compared to the 84-85's. However the 84AE had very pronounced rear fender flares which some people often use. Here's an example of an 84 AE that's been repainted a different color:

I asked because even though the chances are slim to none, I had a buddy in high school who had the same year Z, and I specifically remember him going to some hole in the wall paint shop in the barrio and getting a one-stage paint job that came out looking pretty much identical to what your paint looks like. But again, that would be nearly impossible odds it was the same car

It's a small world. And thanks! I plan to get some legit wheels later on but for its purpose built application the Z32 wheels work well for being on a budget.
