Our 1998 Maxima SE 5spd (ZERO RUST IN PHOENIX!)

We bought it last year and have left it down here to use for visits but it has come time to bring it home (will be driving it home after Christmas instead of flying back)

I just love the lack of rust on this thing! It will almost be sad to subject it to Chicago winter but at least it will have many years ahead before it starts to rust away like the typical Maxima's in the area.

Can't tell you how much I envy your underbody, quarterpanels and core support. I want to move from New England strictly because of this reason...

I hear you! Almost every time we visit here we question why we go back to Chicago...

We will retire here for sure but the job market right now is much worse here than back home where we have good jobs so that is the main thing holding us back.

Plus once we get this home, it will be super easy to sell once we want to move onto something else we find our next Phoenix visit (the hunt is kinda fun for the next rust free car to rescure!)

Clean man ...

Find out if they use rock salt in Chicago, if they do you might want to put a coating of underspray on the lower radiator support.

We just got back home leaving the Maxima in Phoenix until our Christmas visit when we finally drive it back home to Chicago.

Our plan is to sell it this March so long before any rust starts to happen here in Chicagoland so the next owner can take time to do more undercoating or store it in winter

We might clean it up before selling it in March (the plan is to resell it in March as of right now) but we might just leave that cleanup for the new owner. We'll see how it goes but by March we will be very busy with the race/track cars instead anyway.

Wow, I'm super jealous of the lack of rust on that car. It's a total shame that it's going to be salt-beaten. I keep my 95 SE away from winters strictly because of that salt crap.

^ We have other cars that are stored winters... can't store them all! 1990 Mustang is one of them that would rust even faster if it ever saw salt/winter. It's a little more important to store the other cars we have in winter Besides, we let this Maxima live in Phoenix another year longer anyway

^ use it in Phoenix between December 24th and December 31 and then drive it home to Chicago after some needed maintenance items addressed.

Then the plan is to drive it until March 1st/end of February and then put it up for sale locally (rust free like this will sell quickly and easily around here to an enthusiast!)

We will have had it almost a year and a half by then and we'll want to find something else our next visit to Phoenix anyway

So update is we left this car in Phoenix (even took it for smog testing in Phoenix so we could renew the plates (it passed without an issue) and my parents will actually be driving it back on April 26th so it will be sold up here in May or June after this winter salty mess is over so the new owner can decide what to do next.

It is back in Chicago a little early! With this warmer weather and salt/snow long gone, my parents were kind enough to drive it back for us the last week of Feb so it is back in the Chicagoland area now! Still a Snow/Salt Virgin (will make it easier to sell this way)
