Old School 88 Max SE Refreshed

Thanks spend a good amount of time on it. The color is called Firethorn Red Pearl Metallic. It has real fine grains of metallic in the paint. The base was a very light grey Lacquer.

After I seen this fellows Rod that's what I wanted and ordered the paint then afterward was reading what he posted about having the process done to turn out right. And what he wrote I thought I was in for a nightmare. I am far from a Pro but if you work with this color from what he said you can distort the color. Adding reducer or thinner can distort it and adding reducer buys you some time so the paint don't dry too fast in areas causing flashing and over spray. You add hardener and run with it. The Maxima has a large hood and that worried me. A good friend of mine helped me and I let him do it and hoped for the best. I was still driving it while I was doing my prep work lol, I had all the door panels and installation off sanded down in many areas to its base coat and it looked like a spotted cow and the mini donut spare on the back to boot, something out of a Mad Max movie ready to do a drive by. All badges and emblems off going down the highway people looking and thinking ( What the hell is that? ) very embarrassing to say the least.

Mods
Thanks I am happy with the results. I like the Org look of the car and who ever had it prior must of took it to the dealer often, like all the hoses are still soft with no cracks & say Nissan and hints of parts that should not be in very good condition after 20 plus years and bearing their name. Things like the suspension bushings although good I would like to replace with modern market materials, wont enhance too much but would last. The performance of the car is good does around a high 15 low 16 in the 1/4 mile. Years ago I was into turbo charging and have some thoughts of that with an intercooler and bring it to a flat 14. On of the features I like is the adjustable shocks, when I had a flat I was 500 Plus miles away from home and had to drive with the mini spare on the back. There were pot hole and heavy bumps in the road time to time and I took the ride out of firm and put it on soft and the car glided right over them with less risk of a blow out. For a 88 model auto came in handy. One of the things I am going to do next is find the Org Stereo Sym. It had a retro look that in my opinion looked nice with the interiors styling. The drivers seat bottom has seen better days and soon with be hunting one of them.

Hood shock bushing
Here is a light mod that works very well. The Maxima's hood has some weight to it and my hood support shock works fine but when pulling the hood release sometimes wont come up enough reach the safety latch ( always tapping and knowing on the hood to pop it many time not if on a hill ). These are spring loading and came out a 95 BMW 525i trunk area. Now when I release it just pops no problem plus I adjusted my hood body line and the spring tension keeps any rattle out when driving. I had to adjust the trunk body lines as well and did that today.

LOL interior
Yeah the cabin shot. The 80's Nissans had a sort of Signature Interiors. I remember the 200sx of that time and the Nissan Datsun Pickups having that look. Simple with straight lines and I guess that's the theme for them at that time.
