In all these years I have not done a build thread, so figured why not.
Well, I picked up a 97 SE 5 speed that has been sitting for 5 plus years. It already has some modifications done to it and a DE-K swap. Sadly, the first thing to go wrong with it happen to be the rear brake hard lines. Plan was to put a patch but that is not legal in my state so I need to replace the entire line from the firewall back. Just an FYI, these lines are now discontinued, so good luck to any one that runs into this issue. I was lucky enough to find a good donor car at the junkyard, so I got both brake lines and fuels line to replace all at once.
So far, just working on some basic maintenance and going through my old parts to see what I will be replacing on the car. Replaced the broken antenna and removed the broken key stuck in the door lock.
Current modification:
DE-K swap with 65k miles
Eibach's with Koni struts/shocks
Unknown catback exhaust
Unknown Front Strut Bar
Front Clear Corners and Bumper Lights
Red/Clear Tail Lights
Plans for now (parts I already have at home):
Finish detailing the inside and outside of the car
Install new brake and fuel lines
New spark plugs
New R8 Coil Packs
Z32 New fuel filter
Hi Flow Fuel Pump
Greddy EU or Nistune
Front and Rear BBK
- Stage 1: Fronts 4 Piston w/ 12.8" rotors. Rears OEM caliper w/ 12.3" rotors
- Stage 2: Fronts 6 Piston w/ 14" rotors. Rears Larger single piston w 14" rotors (This is a maybe if time allows)
Stillen Front Strut Bar
370Z Sport Wheels
Roll Fenders
Still Body Kit
ES Control Arm bushing
ES Front Sway Bar bushing and end links
ES Sub Frame bushing
ES Motor Mounts
...and more to come.
Disclaimer: Progress depends on priorities, so updates all depend on what is happening at home. Kids, work then car.

Well, had some time to finally work on the car. Removed the old rusted out brake and fuels lines and replaced with with newer OEM lines I was able to find at the junkyard. The EVAP line was damaged on the donor car, so I was not able to replace that at the same time. Still need to bleed the brakes and test everything out before working swapping to the BBKs.
Did have two Org members come by to lend a hand. Thanks!
Before, just before fuel tank After, just before fuel tank Running to the back Running to the front
Also started on the Audi coils conversion, so should be able to get some pictures up that soon as well.
Update: Rear valve cover modified/both painted and UDP
Update: Rear valve cover modified/both painted and UDP
I was able to get the rear cover modified, but unfortunately did not have the proper cutting tools so ended up removing more material than needed. I was going to fill it back in but the weather is getting cold and I am running out of time to get the engine closed back up. May come back to fix the rear cover latter. I did fill in the large scratch on the front cover though. Also installed the under drive pulley. Will get the CV gaskets and seals replaced as well as the spark plugs before installing.
Still nice and clean on the inside Front cover before painting Filled in the scratch on the Front cover Front cover primed Front cover painted Metallic Gray Front cover painted Metallic Gray Modified rear cover (not smooth due to cutoff wheel) Modified rear cover (not smooth due to cutoff wheel) OEM crank pulley New under driver pulley
I will try to getting the covers and manifold back on before Thanksgiving and post pictures.

congrats on the whole process on this car and the installation on the new ud pully. The pully when you installed it did you also replace the crankshaft seal. I was wondering since you were in their you might as well changed that also while your at it. I would of changed the seal, if I was working on it.
Update: Valve Cover pictures and some other things I have been working on
Apologies for the delay here. Timing to get anything done has been tough but here are pictures of the valve covers. Additional, pictures of some other things I have been working on. Horns, lots of wiring and adapter for pftb to 00vi. I will provide more details later on.
Nice job with all the painting, that should look great! What made you want to do the R8 coil pack swap? I was under the impression they did next to nothing.
I guess that is still up for debate. I personally believe they are better for many reasons. Even if it helps with just start up and reliability over the cost OEM, they are worth it.
Most of the wiring is done. Just need to wrap it up. LIM with NWP spacers is now on and fuel rail with 550cc injectors as well. Pre-wired plug for Z32 MAF. Finished up with the engine cover, removed fittings off the 00VI and tapped on a larger one. Cleaned up top of fuel tankard plugs, replaced fuel lines and applied dielectric grease.

Yes, I used a bad MAF to make the adapter. It basically allows me to use the PFTB and mount the IACV in one go. Also increases the air volume of the intake manifold. Though I may not be able to use it as is. I ended up changing plans and made this off the car without rechecking my measurement. This is a bit too long and interferes with the ABS module. Either I have to modified it or start over but no big deal. I picked up another MAF tube to play around with incase I decide to sell this one to someone with no ABS.
The 303 last for a while, at least several months if not longer. It's is used by NASA so has to be good. LOL. I use it on everything I can. It will be absorbed and dry. The surface will be a bit oily/slippery when it is. A lot of people use it on their tires to make them last 2 to 3 times longer than they should.
Here is a picture of the intake pipe as of today. Still a little wet and shiny. The previous picture was taken 08/18.

Reason: Pictures
Wow, so how did you make the parts for the IACV pipe and assemble them all? That's pretty ingenious. And yeah, that loom work is incredible! That's going to be one sexy engine bay when you're all done.
Full DE-K swap with 65K miles. Just playing around with it for now. The LIM was slighted port and polished along with the intake side of the heads. I also ported out the 00VI a bit so it is not as restrictive. I have a bunch of parts laying around from a previous Maxima build but not sure what I will do with them just yet. The built motor is my other project car.
Finished cleaning up the fuel tanks and installed new fuel pump.
under hood light setup to work on open/close or by a switch.
Almost done with wiring the rpm switch for the 00vi.
