Hello there
Hello there
Hello,
So first of all....I am from France! Please, I mean you no harm! As a french people with taste, I dislike what Renault did to Nissan's name.
Therefore, I bring my excuses to what happened to Nissan company after we took it in.
I have quite a long history with Nissan, in a way. The first car I ever grew up in was a Nissan Cherry that my parents still remember, (and for which, we are still dubitative about the engine death when we joined another french area which was homeland of a french car company factories). My parents loved and cared about cars, and car was fine and checked before going. Anyway, then we got a Nissan Serena for we were numerous and enjoyed to travel, and as Top gear once said about japanese cars "available today, not tomorrow". We kept it many years, even brought it to Alps in remoted places where it suffered a bit to climb sometimes (the road was a big degrees climb at a point) but it did it. We had to change a car and take a local factory in to look good for people around, I still remember my dad showing me the nissan deal for the Silvia and the sparkles he had in the eyes. I still feel a bit guilty not to have push more on my mom side for the Silvia, we would have deal with the less living space compare to the Serena somehow and ended with a legend instead of a car so good, it now values nothing. Recently, my parents went back to Nissan since was no more need to get a local made car full of issues cause my parents will retire soon, so they care a bit less how their shop looks cause they made their reputations. So, they got a Qashquai or Rogue if you prefer with manual gearbox to counterpart the nissan curse of CVT which is quite appreciated.
I was living in big city and used to rely on public transports but I need a car of my own, therefore I am influenced by those Nissan roots and remembering of quality and no mechanical surprises compare to Citroën quality (which almost ended up killing up my whole family one day we were on the road at 130km/h and the car went to 0 thanks to poor garage car - it was checked before we took the road). I fell in love with Maxima style of the latests ones which aren't sold anymore here, so I looked out, and found some A32, maybe A33 even if I prefer the 4th gen style, no offense for 5th gens but catalysors aren't cared in France also and we all know how it starts and end for the vq... (interior of 5th gen looks beautiful though, gotta be fair). I looked at some Mitsubishi Galant VIII gorgeous style before but they need to be imported from others countries as Peugeot made a deal with Mitsubishi for them NOT to sell the Galants VIII versions in France. Otherwhise, I looked at some 406 coupe which despite lights looks good but may not be the best to let old people come in easily in the back and well....it's Peugeot mechanical which I enjoyed the work "quality", or lack of for a decade as wrote before. Even on forums, on some gens of those coupe, people bought a case with electronical checking device and pray at night for the onboard computer not to go wrong...
This is my trip on new car, after watching dozens of videos and needing to read the whole forum, I am set on a maxima unless I get a better deal but my heart beats for it. I don't intend to move up sportly the car, I wanna try to make it last to the million of km if it's possible. Therefore, I am scared on automatic transmission lifespan and intendend to import some hot shot secrets products to keep it the longest possible. I love to make things last and find it stupid to throw them or let them rot. I love also the J30 but can't use it since in my country regulations, close to a big city, cars before 97 can't be used during pollutions spikes and that'll happen more in more...
I am scared of the appetite of the v6 but will try to be gentle on the paddle.
I could said, I was fan of maxima for decades or such, but I prefered to let you know this little trip of mine and be honnest with all of you. I didn't know the car for long and noticed it a few years ago when I was starting to think about it, but when you look more for it, it goes under your skin...

Another update : I removed a few rust from under the spare wheel.
I had a huge lot of things to do and I am dead. I just have a question, after using the maxima, there are clinking noises from the engine bay, I heard it was due to metal cooling and reducting itself not at the same speed therefore the noise, is it true?
It doesn't do any click or whatever noise during start and I don't notice it while driving.
Best regards to all of you !
