Hey everyone. Been lurking for a few months. Just registered today.
Short background on myself, I've been a Chevy guy since I was 15 (still am but I love the Nissan lineup over what Chevy is rolling out these days). First car was a black '94 Camaro V6. Drove it thru high school and for several years after till I bought a used '05 Silverado 1500 Z71 ext-cab 5.3L in '10. Drove it for the next 10 years till a kid in an Accord pulled out in front of me, totaling both vehicles. Hated to see her go but she was burning oil like crazy, 199K, issues piling up, etc. Loved the 8th Gen maximas when they rolled out but was satisfied with my paid-off silverado. Pulled the trigger on a black S at South Austin Nissan back in November 2020.
Absolutely love the car and overall satisfied with its performance so far. Would have preferred a white SR with the black rims and spoiler but it was a little out of my price range. My black S model is the next best thing. Would like to put a black SR style spoiler on it eventually. Cost for parts and labor around $500. I don't see many 8th Gen maximas around the North Austin area where I live/commute. See so many Altimas though (I know that's the more popular model). Posted in the Austin tx forum a bit ago but it didn't seem very active.
Has anyone had any issues with their '20 Maxima? I have had one. Back in April I got into the car to go to work and the fuel gauge was at redline E despite having more than half a tank the night before when I got home. I thought I got siphoned in the middle of the night. Drove to work pissed off but stopped and put $20 in the tank. Fuel gauge never moved. Felt a little relieved but still irritated. Took it in and they tweaked it to work again. Apparently the fuel gauge sender unit or something of that nature failed. No issue there since. Steering seems to have gotten a little lazy but nothing too concerning. Seems to wander a little on the highway and the steering wheel doesn't quite correct itself to center after turning. I have to assist it from turn all the way to center. The first couple months of owning it, it was pretty on point. However, these issues are minimal compared to my silverado's horrible alignment issues. 7400 miles so far. First oil change/tire rotation at 5200. Maybe I need an alignment? Otherwise, the car is great, tires seem to still be in balance, no weird engine noises or interior rattles, thank god.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy intro. Nice to meet you guys and hope to learn some valuable info from yall. I plan to keep the car a while unless one of these many erratic Austin drivers gets me again.
