I'm investigating a problem on my grandmothers 93 Maxima.
When you break hard there is thunk from the front of the car (engine area).

It only happens when trying to stop when going over 30.
If she is driving in neighborhood area,15 to 20 mph and stops at stop sign no noise.

This is not the break squeking sound like when have new pads or old pads that need to be replaced.

If this is not enough info I'll understand if you are unable to provide an answer or sugestion.

Make sure all the fluid reservoirs are bolted in place, especially the coolant reservoir. Also check the cruise control actuator to make sure it's secure.

 

could be battery or something not all the way down or something else loose
