transmission oil check problem

Hi All!
When I checked my auto transmission oil on cold engine it MUCH above cold mark on probe.
But for HOT mark on working engine it's in proper level.
Is some one else has the same problem?

Greg.

How did you check it. The most accurate way is to check it after you have been driving for a while. You should leave the car running while you check it also. If you did it that way and it was in the proper range everything is fine.

If you checked it after running it for ten minutes and the car was still running when you pulled the dipstick everything is fine. That's is the preferred procedure and how the dipstick is calibrated. ATF expands a lot with heat which is why the level you see are so different. The most accurate is hot with the engine running. If it shows okay then, everything is normal and you have nothing to worry about.
