Need a tire match for the 18" Mille Evo5 Sport for a 2002 SE

Looking for an all season, smooth riding, high performance, stick to the road tire that won't break the bank. Right now I have the 17" factory tire/rim with 7K miles, will I give up anything as far as the ride is concerned moving to a 18" x 8"? BTW...this site is da bomb!

Why don't you go with a 235/40/18 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. Those are nice sticky, smooth riding, high performance tires that won't break the bank. I have Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position SO3s and they're great. The ride is still pretty smooth and comparable to stock, but they are expensive tires. I have pics of my wheels and tires on my homepage (to the left) if you want to see them.

Ive pushed my 555 Nitto's real hard the last few days. They stick like glue. I know they are a bit more than the Khumo's , but you get what you pay for. Im running on 245/35's...

All I know is that a lot of the myths I heard about 19's have not surfaced. I welcome anyone in So Cal, to take a ride with me in the car. Other ORG members with 19's will tell you that your feel for the road is so much better. Irvine78 and I were talking about it at the show. He's on 19's right now too. Its not the kind off harsh ride people warned me about to. I suggest you save a little more $$ and go for the 19's. That way you wont be kicking yourself later. My .02 . Ask the other ORG members, who have them,.

Kumhos are nice and cheap! good bang for the buck
I have Sumitomo HTRZs on my 18"s and they are really nice tires for cheap
If you want less noise, check out the Yokohama AVS dBs
for the best tires all around in my opinion get Bridgestone Potenza S-03 pole positions

and about the 19"s? I have 19"s they dont ride bad at all on most surfaces but lowered with stiff suspension and 19"s there isnt very much sidewall flex to cushion the ride on screwed up roads like in LA

Also its very easy to bend 19"s rims if you arent careful... especially one piece 19"s

oh yea... but when it comes time to replace tires you will shoot yourself when you check out the prices of 19" tires

What about the Yokohama AVS ES 100

they are new from what I understand, but the specs look good.
I would go with a 19", but unfortunatley this is still somewhat a family car, my wife rides the baby around in it as well. She likes Kloogy's rims but wants the satin finish. She's concerned about the ride being too hard here in Atlanta for the 19's. If I move to the 18's is there anthing I should know, I'm having them professionally installed. I was thinking of going through Tire Rack for the set, do they put the tire on the rim for you and balance it.

On the 8" couldn't you go with a 245/40/18 if you can here is the Tire I would get. BTW, if you get tires from Discount Tire grab a motor trend or any car mag with their advertising in it because the prices are much lower. Here is the Nitto on the website245/40/18

I went to one of the stores and the price was about the same on this tire, but in the magazine article it is $145 per tire and they matched that.

Tires

I'm running 245/40 Kumhos 712s on my 18s, and I have no complaints so far. But I think they're only summer tires, so we'll see in the winter.
Kloogy, the ride looks hot. Not even few months ago you were complementing me on my 18s, and look at you now
Good luck.
oh, and as for the tires, Falkens are not that expensive and I personally like Dunlops.

Yes, Kumhos are more summer tire oriented, but if you have a lot of rain in your area then they're good in wet too. Snow is another story though.

How do your S-03's handle on wet pavement? Really wet pavement? I'm in Seattle and love my Pilot Sport A/S', but I'm curious how your S-03's take the wet pavement since they're technically a summer tire.

Plue & Minus moving to a 18" over the...

factory 17". Can I ride on the freeway, streets and downtown without a noticable difference in the ride. Can I carry 5 passengers? Will the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 or Bridgestone S03 give me the same ride with better handeling. Sure, looks are good, but $1900 is alot to pay if the ride sucks. Thanks

I have never had anyone ride in my car and say, " Your ride sucks "... You cant compare Khumos to S03's .... !

If you want a floaty comfotable , in the clouds ride, you must go purchase a GLE, and dont change anything. It wont handle well , but it will be comfortable. You cant have performance, and a luxury ride.

I've heard the Sumitomo HTRZ II's are about the best bang for your buck in the tire industry. P245/40R18 are $140 I think.

I guess what I'm asking is...

can the SE with 18" carry passengers without the tire rubbing or hitting the frame on less than idea roads (Northeast roads). I don't mind a solid ride if the handling is good. BTW, I'm purchasing your rims because they look sooooo d@#* good on your MAX! Why don't they let us by them in that satin finish? Thanks

Basically if you go with the Nittos, they are a beefier than the Kuhmos. Because of this, you will get a rub with the Nittos. I personally don't mind it. The Kuhmos which are not as beefy rarely if ever rub. You should be able to get either tire for about 130...

I too liked those Mille Miglias, but they were a bit heavy for me. So I opted with a different wheel, but those Evos are what I considered first. You cannot buy them in the satin finish because those are BWM exclusive and are probably made with specific measurements to BMWs. However, if the BWM measurements are identical to ours then I have no idea why you cannot buy them. (Clarification - I'm not saying that they are, but if they happen to be).

Cwally, is the Mille Miglias Evo logo

on your wheel in black or red? The picture on the web site has it in both? I do want the black logo. Did you try for the satin finish as well or you just opted for silver? Thanks

You get both with the wheels . I had a problem with the black ones, as Cwally saw. They were crushed during shipping. I had to go with the Reds. I would rather have the blacks, but they are going to order the blacks again for me .

All I know is that these are the shiniest silver whels I have ever seen !
