I think I may have just gotten screwed, JET ECU passed off as a JWT ECU
I think I may have just gotten screwed, JET ECU passed off as a JWT ECU
I am so ****ed. I recieved my "JWT ECU" today and lo and behold, there is a JET Performance Products sticker on it. JET is certainly NOT what I intended to buy. I contacted the seller and he said he has the invoice which says Jim Wolf Technology ECU on it. He said it was sent out by a local performance shop to be modified by JWT. Are there any external indications that an ECU was modified by JWT? Do you think I can call JWT and give them the serial number on the ECU and have them tell me if this ECU has been modified by them?
I called them but the phone just rang and rang. I opened the ECU up and the chip inside has a JET Performance Products sticker on it as well. The seller said he is going to get me the invoice and if I want he will send me my money back... I guess I need to talk to JWT first though. I suppose it's possible it was modified by JWT after it was modified by JET, but I would think JWT would leave some sort of indication on the ECU itself that they had modified it.
Does anyone have experience with JET Products. I know the word of mouth on here is that they suck, but does anyone have dynos proving they suck?

It is very possible that the performance shop screwed the seller. I doubt very much that someone would not know if the ECU were upgraded twice. If the JWT upgrade was recent, someone here reported that JWT also includes the stock settings on a ROM chip that you can easily replace the upgraded settings ROM with. In any case, invoice or not, it doesn't sound like a JWT ECU. I hope you can get your money back...
If it is a JET, I doubt it would have a higher rev limit, nor would they have the benefit of upgradability that JWT provides. I would definitely not keep it if it is a jet. The other thing that bothers me is the seller sent this ECU with "Jet Performance Products" and he doesn't question that as being different from Jim Wolf Technology? Is this guy a maxima enthusiast or is he just playing ignorant to unload this dud...

I have had 2 different ecus modified by JWT and both had exterior stickers noting the modifications that had been performed. Get your $ money back. You had talked about buying my ecu but I am using it with my 370cc injectors/SC and I am very happy I didn't sell it then.

You may have been ripped off. My JWT ECU for the se-r has a JWT sticker saying that it runs with a 0.036 n2o jet

Just spoke to the seller. I'm sending him the ECU back and getting my money back. His invoice does not say who the ECU was sent to, but I've gathered from this thread and the fact that he was only charged $389 initially that this is NOT a Jim Wolf ECU. Bummer. Looks like my quest for 13s may be delayed somewhat... I was really looking forward to having the 7000rpm rev limiter with my Variable Intake.
Why don't you just call >>>>>>
JWT and order an ECU upgrade from them, also tell them that you have the variable intake, etc. and maybe they can program it specifically for you. A few years ago I asked them the same question if I were to install an intake from a japanese cefiro could they program a chip to work with it and they said SURE NO PROBLEM. I say give it a try can't hurt. Good Luck and God Bless. Peace.
Because from JWT they are $595 and I can't be without an ECU (meaning I'd be without a car) for 2 weeks. Every time I call JWT I end up talking to someone who seems like they have no interest in talking to me

Any MODs are MOST likely Electronic, ie SOFTWARE 010101010, etc.
Unless you have had hardware issues w/ JET, everything else Software, I mean, will be JWT, my .02

I think the point you are trying to make is that the only difference will be the software. That's exactly my point... JWT is proven and trusted, JET is not. JWT has a raised redline which I need, JET does not.
