HELP!!!! Spring Defect question!!????
HELP!!!! Spring Defect question!!????
We are here in the middle of installing maxspeed springs and ran into a problem with them, the springs seem to be cut wrong and doesnt seat correctly on the strut/top mount. as you can see in the pic, the maxspeed springs are cut on the same side of the spring compared to the stock spring thats cut on opposite sides. we tried many times but the spring is rotated 180 deg. the wrong way. Can anyone give some imput on why the spring is like this? any maxspeed owners out there that have the springs like this?
Don't know but are you holding the front spring? And is there actually a groove for the end of the spring to fit in like I know the bottom has.
When I did mine, the top of the spring just fit into the spring seat (rubber like collar) and there was no problem seating the bottom correctly. Have you actually tried to fit it up or just asking ahead of time...cause no one has posted anything like this before.
I will look again into this issue but I would ask that for the sake of conversation can you tell what model you have and if the springs were new or used and have they been cut at all...just want to get all the info.
These shots are of my springs when they went on in February...they are not wound the same as the ends on the stocks but they went in without a hitch and have given me NO trouble at all since install.

If someone that has their H&R, Eibach or Sprint or Drop Zones not installed maybe they can look and compare likewise to see if there is a marked difference.
I will follow this up to make certain there is not something up with the make...I am not personally concerned about the difference in winding.

We just installed klubjunkie's todays. We didn't have any problems getting the spring to sit correctly, but they may of well been cut the same was as yours. He should have pics up shortly, so take a look when he gets em up. I don't think it really matters how it's pressed into the top part of the seat, because it's round the whole way around it.
Re: HELP!!!! Spring Defect question!!????
The upper mount does not have to accommodate the upper end of the spring in any specific position. No matter where the upper spring seats, it should be fine. The lower spring end fits in the groove so you have no choice but to align it like that.
thanks everyone. We went ahead and mounted them and installed everything. the install went fine after ignoring the spring wound and no problems after that. Mozy's car looks awesome!!! Ill get pics tommorow. Also have a few cool pics we took after the install
Last post of the night. Hand models courtesy of mozy and yours truly. LOL.
Nismo, I was so caught up in detailing Iilac's car that I forgot to ask you. What did you end up doing with the springs? You fitted the strut mount on and just mounted it?

Turdz: Nismo just fitted the lower part of the spring onto the groove and squeezed and pushed the top onto the spring they had Iilac sit(not really, he just pushed) on the spring and squeeeeeze real hard as Nismo tightened the strut bolt.
all it took was a little thinking time and some sheer muscle.
THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!
