How long will factory struts last with lowering springs?

I read through the suspension tread and since this question wasn't answered thought I would stat a seperate tread so that maybe this would get add to the suspension sticky.

Anyway I have H&R springs on my car and the results are very noticable. I got the instant 1.5-1" drop no settling necessary. I don't feel body role the ride is smother than stock. It looks phat with my 18" Giovanna Essen wheels and the car seem faster now too for some reason.

However I still have my factory struts and I would like to know how many miles I will get out of them before I should look into replacing them?

2002 Majestic Blue SE,charcoal leather, 20% tint, H&R springs,
18" Giovanna Essen chromes w/ Nitto NT555 235 40 18. 2 12" Rockfords Subs and amp,

should do a search on this one. the stock struts are designed with stock height and spring rate. so my answer to your question is that the ride quality will get worst and worst depends on the quality of your roads, your driving style and your tolerance. some people dun mind it at all, but some people cant stand the car bounce around.

What bounce are you reffering to ?? I put eibachs and left my stock struts on. It feels pretty much the same as stock, but lower...

I guess it depends on road conditions and the speed you're going at. On stock struts though the ride is tighter than it is on GLE's whenever i go through bumps the rear usually tends to bounce a bit before stabilizing.

lowering springs usually have higher spring rate and that means your struts needs to work harder to dampen it. ALL struts wear down and it is just a matter of time. The more it wears down, the weaker the damping ability and ride becomes more bouncy.

I just need them to last till koni or KYB make 5th gen agj. shocks. So far it's next year.

No, i have an SE. And it does get bouncy when the going gets tough - and here in Houston there's a lot of tough roads that i have to go through

Anyway, as far as longevity goes. Instead of naming names, on average the people i know who are still on stock struts have roughly 30k miles going.

Stock struts dead at 25,000 miles. My car is slammed like 2 inches though. Waiting for KYB's.

that's what I thought initially....but I dun want to pay labor twice. about 5th gen koni....I dunno wheather they are going to come out a full strut unit or just the shock inserts. KYB will design a full strut for sure.

yup....you have the toughest spring! so it ran for 25k with the GC and went bye bye? that's pretty good for stock strut.

saving another 180 for UDP?
