Question about changing oil filter without changing oil

Will all the oil from my engine drain out if i just want to change the oil filter and not the oil?

Logic says that it would drain out but i just want to know for sure.

Thanks,

Ceres

No. Only the oil in the filter will be lost. The oil in the engine is drained by removing the oil drain plug. Replacing the oil filter does not affect oil in the oil pan.
