Subaru WRX in Turbo Magazine w/ 398 WHP!!!

Man, the 2k2 Max needs a turbo or supercharger now!

Anybody see this??? This Subaru WRX had a ball-bearing turbo, custom headlamps, custom fog lamp covers that made the front fascia much more attractive IMHO, 18" SSR gunmetal rims, coilover suspension, and so many mods I can't list. It was generating 398 WHP on a dyno, and remember this puppy is AWD...

...Is that not sick for a 4-cyl.???

There was no performance data, but I am guessing this lil' bastard will hit the 12's don't ya think???

Where is that turbo, we need it with lil' buggers like this on the road...

If it hits 12s I would be disapointed since Kev just recent did 12.7 on a freagin Auto.

...Really???

...When did he finally go to the track? I kinda' figured he could get in the 12's... He is getting 300+ at the wheels now isn't he?

..So maybe even low 11's or possibly high 10's are possible for this monster WRX??? You think?

Firstly the WRX and Max are totally different types of cars. The WRX is a tiny bug-car that is for people who are for pure speed. It's got AWD which is a big advantage over FWD (especially when you start boostin'). The 2k2 Maxima has an attractive exterior (minus ugly taillights) that gives it a luxurious sporty look. It is alot bigger and ALOT more refined/luxurious then the WRX. The Maxima is by far a classier car and most people would take it over a WRX, but that doesn't change the fact that the sooby is alot more mod friendly. If ONLY the Max had AWD or RWD Don cooper would easily be in the 10's and possibly 9's. But the reality is that's not the type of car the Max was meant to be and 90% of people who buy them could care less about the drivetrain layout regarding speed, they just want something that they can handle easier.

With the money Kevish spent on His 2k minima he could have bought a Supra Twin turbo and proly have made it a 10 second car. But he went for uniqueness and I give him tons of respect. He probubly OWNS all cars locally and probubly has no fear when racing.

I said that...

Maybe I did... I remember some thread about someone hittin a 12 sec mark. I will have to look for it now. I do not remember where though. I know SR20DEN will hit 12s with his NOS equipped 2k2 soon. He just needs traction. It is tough to keep that kind of power to the wheels.

That's nice, but I have heard of a few WRX's that made even more power. One of them I heard is making over 500whp. Possible or bs? I think it's possible.

I heard monkeys can fly too.

Sorry, dont mean to be a wise-a$$. I don'think it is possible. I remeber when they were coming out with those WRX's. They took that motor and swapped parts, turbos, everything, and they were still only producing 240-260 at the wheels. Now there are extreeme measures to go to, but I cannot see them pulling 500 HP at all 4 wheels with that car.

I could be totally wrong too. If I am , I will say it was not the little 1.8 motor they have here, it had to be the B22 with a huge turbo on it.

As long as you build the bottom end strong enough and have the appropiate fuel/ingition management, you can probably get as much HP as you dare to get. Just have to raise the boost and make sure the turbo is big enough(in hugely simplified terms)

There are 4 cylinder Cosworth Escorts and Sierras running over 600hp in Europe. I believe they are under 2.2 liters also.

Wouldnt the "bottom end" on a WRX be the middle?

It's not highly tuned. I haven't dialed in the air/fuel ratio after swapping in the Walbro fuel pump and 2.87 pulley, so I'm probably running on the rich side.

12's?
