Mr. Gone's Misfortune

Hello all, as you know I'm Mr. Gone's best friend, nismo280. On Saturday, 8-3-02, he decided that was going to load a few friends into his 93 max. and go for top speed at about 7:30 PM . Well, even I would have picked a better place then dense residential. To make a long story short, he failed to negotiate a turn around 65 MPH. He smacked a late model Chevy van and continued to mow over someone’s lawn, displace a small tree, and land in the NEXT house’s driveway . His 1993 SE is toast. Insurance company says its totaled. I’m going to buy the car as soon as the insurance company releases it (cause its considered evidence now). I guess I'm the latest to-be maxima owner (it'l be my first). I doubt you’ll hear a whole bunch from him for a while.

Anyway, I just thought I’d let you all know. … Now, if he were in my rig… (below) what would have happened?

He would have displaced a house or two...

I agree that what he did was a stupendously stupid thing to do. If he had injured or killed anyone he would be in real serious trouble.

Shawn is ok... all four kids that were in the car were sent to the hospital just in case. Maximas are safe cars, thank God. I agree with you all, it was a stupid mistake. A remider to all, it just is'nt worth it.

As for those who were wondering, I dont know what I'm going to do with the car yet. I'm thinking I could sell it as is, or I could find a max that needs a engine and interior. What do you all think?

What a community of maxima. Thanks to all.

im ok,
just seat belt burns. the air bag did not go off. the car was not comprehensive. the area that we were going to go was not very residential but i saw some houses and they looked really nice so i traveled up a the hill more and man such a beautiful area. then peer presure came in. it truely is a hard lession. i promissed myself after hearing of the first few crashes on here that I wouldnt do it, but it happened. I tried to learn from Skymax and Box, but now im just another one of them, but not as forunate, as no comprehensive means im out $5000 and since i was stupid enough to try in a 25mph zone, i am now license less for atleast a year and when i do get it back, which im not even going to think about, insurance will be so high its not worth it.

im not going to be on here much because the accident really screwed me up. no more 3rd gen love for me, hard to keep my 5th gen around. I think im just going to tinker with my dads durango, my sister will be doing all the driving now on, maybe she can have some "bump in the trunk". She even began to start driving like me, lesson to both of us, no more playing around. even my parents have become better drivers. my dad now shifts at 2k instead of 3 in our new 2000 SE 5spd. I was going to tell you about but the 3 days lapse between gaining one and looseing another is just tough.

Its also been hard for me just to let it go. i wanted it back. still do, but with my dads support, its been alot easier. the only real reason im worried about the car is because I already know that everyone is ok. I am so increditably fortunate i didnt hit a small child on the side of the street, there werent any kids out, but they could have been, they always are.

the next day, sore, i went with my mom and cleaned up the accident scene. I have alot of legal stuff to go through. I estimated 65mph but i wasnt going faster than 55. i have learned that it is better to tell the truth than it is to lie, so i hope it holds up in this case as well. I am only 17 and have not even the slighest glimpse of knowledge on how life is and how it works. there used to be just 2 things for me. 1. computers and 2. cars. now i find it hard to think about either one.

I am going to be selling stereo equipment to try and make some money for the expenses im going to be facing. looks like the maxima.org stickers will be going directly on the 5th gen.

its going to be a long tough road to follow, but I know that I am soley to blame, it was my choice, clouded as it was, it is all my fault. Hopefully the 3 other passangers have learned a big lession, but i worry that they have not, i pray that they have.

I am going to help the homeowners get speed bumps put in. Its the least I can do. I tried yesterday to put my time and passion into the 5th gen then into the durango, not getting anywhere. my dad is being very supportive and letting me do things to the 5th, but i just dont want to, i feel that i will loose it just like i lost my 3rd.

I keep on rambling, i am sorry for that.

I will try to get you guys some pictures of the car's.

talk with you later,
MrGone

I am going to try posting in the forsale area soon.

Also, is it strange for me to not remember simple things, like what I had for dinner last night (pizza, but my mom asked and i had to think about it). I think it might just be the high stress, but you guys know far more than I do.

thanks again.

WEll...first I'm glad to see that you're OK...second...Skymax was not driving like a moron. He was the victim of a stupid Exploder! Listen, take some time off, away from any car and just relax...play playstation 2 or something....eventually though...re-aclimate yourself with a car...and enjoy working on them, but just refrain from driving like an @$$.

Good luck,

I feel sorry for people learning the hard way. I totaled to cars at 17 Renault and my 90 max but that was due to speed but only because lack of sleep. I was delivering my newspapers and ussaully go on 2 day no sleep rally.

Wow, I am glad you and your friends are okay. The damage to the property and the car is nothing compared to physical injury. Maximas are very safe cars, especially 3rd gens, Im sure skymax, blackandwhite, Maxima_Van_WA and yourself can claim that. I know I can. You are in a tough situation, you didnt have comprehensive/collision, so it is a total loss to you. I pay $2k/yr for insurance, but I have to. Its the only way that if something does happen, i am covered. I know that when you start out young, you get minimal insurance so you can afford it...I did the same things, but I had an $800 car so it wouldnt be such a major loss.

Even now, I am still having issues with my insurance from my accident... They say its gonna take up to 5 months because they need to find the other driver. All this because someone else caused me to crash. I feel bad that this happened to you. It is the hard lesson, but no one was hurt and in the future, you will drive that much safer. I hardly ever drive faster than 35-40 in my town. I have learned to do this from a few tough lessons. But now it comes naturally.

You will be sore for a little while. Just rest and dont do a lot of stressful things. Chill out, enjoy the relaxation and def play some PS2 or somethin. Don't stress yourself too much over the legal stuff and everything else. They will have to get done, and you will get through it. It seems tough at first, but dont think about it now. Just prepare yourself.

Im sure in a year, we'll see another Max in your driveway...It always ends up that way...(Sky,B&W,Box, etc)

Just to let everyone know, there was a recall for our air bag sensor. So I'm not sure if mine was replaced or not since I'm the second owner. So for the rest of you, you may want to find out if your sensor has been replaced or not. It may actually be a free replacement recall.

hi,
nupe, i know that they werent driving like me and that all the rest of you guys were victims not the cause like me.

thanks for your kind words everyone, and box, i hope i do have another 3rd gen or maxima at that, but it will be a very long time. my family gave teh car away so I couldnt sell any parts off it. a huge loss for me.

i have to go to work at 4. except i dont think im going to be "that always happy, nice bag boy" for a while. Nothing seems to get my mind off the accident. even watching tv, just doesnt work. its hard to come on here and talk with you guys, because it reminds me of how stupid i was.

later
