I think the 5th gen. 5-speeds feel kinda like a turbo.
When I floor it in 1st and 2nd, the response is not as immediate as a 4th gen.
But give it a few seconds, and as the rpm starts building, then it starts pulling, especially above 4500.

All my friends who drove my car said it feels like that too, sorta like a rubber band.

It makes sense, on the dyno, below 5000, 4th and 5th are very similiar, but the 4th gen. have less weight.
So they must feel more responsive, but once you go over 5000 in a 5th gen, it pulls way harder than the 4th.

It's the intake manifold and the exhaust that probably makes the difference. The 5th gen's have a variable intake that kicks in at higher rpms and a variable exhaust. The combination of the two make for that 'rubber band' feeling past 4500 rpm

Not sure what you mean - our pulls good everywhere, with a nice linear pull. Turbos (especially big ones) hit pretty hard! Harder to drive in/through corners - or at least require very different technique!

Check out this dyno chart - nice flat torque cruve.

Compare that torque curve to this one: (SE-R turbo)

My automaxima

Mine pulles harder once it reaches 2,800rpm's then harder once it reaches 4,500 rpm's. I think they feeling is awesome, kind of like being sucked in more as you revv the car. Off-the-line though, It still can't compare to my VG30E 90 SE. This car will easily churp its tires.
